I think you generally need to have some proof that someone is guilty before you prosecute them, I could be wrong though ...

This,whatever the outcome from this German connection,would any right thinking parent/s leave their child/children unattended while out drinking in an unsecured room,in a strange country,you can bet if the McCanns had of been from a council estate they’d have been facing charges of child neglect and calls for the other children to go into care ..

I think that is what turned most people against them. There is still a class system in this country no matter what people say. They are educated and were good with the press, the little girl had the most adorable photo that the press lapped up. I cant remember which one but a millionaire gave them his private plane and the cops have been given huge amounts of money that an investigation in England could never get.
As you say, if they were working on the bins/Tescos and lived in Doncaster Social services would have been involved and the case would have been long forgotten. We do not live in an equal society.
