Maffeo and Angelino loaned to Girona

How can giving them game time every week at a club challenging for promotion be seen as negative? They will be playing competitive football rather than going through the motions in the EDS.
The problem is not with the club but with the system. How can kids develop in a man's game? We need to put B teams in the league system.

No way the lower leagues will go for that unless they get offered a LOT of money.

13 starts in a season isn't exactly great though.

The one thing I think these loans are doing is making them more mature by going out away from their comfort zones, but Angelino has gone to NY and Maffeo to Girona already.

I'm not against the idea of loaning both out either, I just really don't like where they've been sent. Both could have gotten starts in a prem team or a bundesliga team.

For me we're seeing the Denayer thing again. There was a window for him to be given a chance, but he was farmed out. By the time he got back, his window of opportunity was shut. I don't think he's turned out good enough, but the same approach probably won't help these two lads either. Thankfully Kelechi is playing in a position where you can't ignore his stats and he's had to be given some respect.

I can't imagine any Premier League or Bundesliga team wanting young, unproven fullbacks unless there was an option to buy at the end of the loan deal. Top and bottom six teams are under too much pressure to take a risk and mid-table teams might as well give one of their own a chance.

Hopefully the club will put out an explanation ASAP.
The loans are self explanatory. Young players need to play football to improve and they're not good enough to get in our team so won't be playing here.

I said it at the time, I think the FA Cup draw fucked over these lads. Had we gotten Scunny or the like we'd have held onto them and played them in the cup. Getting West Ham probably dictated playing a senior side, lessening the chance of games for them.

Looks like we have a new right back coming in.

It would be a strange move to loan Maffeo out if not. Zabaleta and Sagna both have suspect injury records, plus Maffeo was great against United.

Angelino hasn't been close to the first team all season really, so it makes sense there.

yes do we have B team or reserves ? If we do you never hear of anything... It was a better system than under 16s / under 18's / under 12s..

I think this is a good thing long term but it does leave me a little concerned for this season, Sagna and Zabba have both had injury worries this season and i thing we are light at full back positions. I can't see us bringing anyone in so i guess Fernando is the back up.

Dont we have a recall option? I was under the impression that its usually the season long loan when the club taking on a player is reluctant to include a recall option in the deal. You can see why Celtic wouldnt want there to be a recall option as far as Roberts is concerned because they're effectively counting on him as an integral member of their squad. I didnt think the same logic applies to short term deals.

in the real world and the standard of pep teams are they good enough at the moment

this is not a easy ride club anymore you have to be ready and world class just to get a place in the squad
the youth setup is 2 years in the making and really nobody stands out and shouts to pep to start them or give them a place on the bench so loaning is a good way to see how much talent they really have at first team level. in all truth we has fans want silverware first and winning titles and then next is a good young lad given time to play in the first team but at this level it does not mix at times or unless you are something special. so we are all to blame in a way and the pressure of this club and fans is to much for giving young talent a chance
