Maffeo and Angelino loaned to Girona

I don't agree with that. There wouldn't be a queue of Premier League or Bundesliga teams willing to take on some raw, completely unproven teenage full-backs for 6 months and play them regularly. And any team that was willing to do that would likely be desperate and involved in a relegation scrap. Not really great preparation for coming back to City in the summer.
These people who say stuff like that [a raft of Prem clubs likely being interested] are living in a dream world. Maffeo and Angelino are talented kids but in this situation, this is about the best loan move they could get and it's one that is mutually beneficial. That's the end of the story.

How long are they for? Why now? Why to Girona? Are there call-back clauses? Who pays their wages?
They're for 6 months as noted by the club. We are -definitely- paying their wages -- this is for their development. A loaning club only pays when they're loaning a finished product like a Nasri. There is almost certainly a recall option but the chances of us using it are slim to none so don't expect it to be known either way.

Why now? Because we finally can loan them out. Pep got a chance to spend 6 months with them and instill his methodology -- now they'll get a chance to play regularly before coming back in the summer. And as I said before, Girona is a small club who would like to reinforce but lack funds. This gives them more depth in their challenge to get to La Liga which would benefit both clubs substantially.

Not sure how anyone has a problem with this. Not many players play in the Prem under 21. Even less so at the top end of the league. They will get some experience there for half a season. Then possibly step up a level next time around in a loan to a Premier league level side, and either be ready for us at 21/22 or if there not seen as good enough sold on.....

Good experience for them.
Pep by all accounts has been able to have a good look at them and obviously judged they aren't ready yet.
Maybe in the future but not yet....

Cheers mate. Very helpful.

Having a Club in the first division of the Spanish League where we can basically send a loanee whenever we wanted on our terms is kind of a good thing for the club. That is exactly what we would have with Girona. The best way to accomplish that is to give them two kids to bring them up Makes a lot of sense to me.

That's already been accomplished, this link was established last season.

Really ?

Interesting. I initially thought perhaps he might sneak into the team as the season unfolded.

That could've happened . . . The idea was to assess the performance and fitness of Zaba and Sagna whilst giving him time to gain some strength and work under Pep for 6 months, he's obviously happy enough with the other two so has allowed this. The lad was injured in the first few minutes against Celtic which affected him that day.

Let's look at Pablo alone, stand out performance vs United who tried and failed to crucify him with their first team, solid vs steau and Celtic. I think he's shown enough for half of the bottom teams to want him.

Angelino to Girona I can understand somewhat. Pablo going back, I don't agree with.

Two points would a team in the bottom half trust him to play him enough. Second do we want to send him to a team scrapping and playing survival football or send him to a team playing the City way. I've never seen Girona but would Guess they play a similar sytem to Peps. Maybe we also want them playing together regularly. which if we play inverted fullbacks going forward , would need an understanding of playing together fullbacks don't normally need.
