Two of them asked to leaveShouldn't have sold or sell any of them.
Who has replaced Sterling or Jesus?Mahrez as we have replaced sterling and Jesus
Palmer and McAtee have a decent chance. Delap will be sold eventually.Who has replaced Sterling or Jesus?
The incomers have been Haaland (a belated replacement for Aguro), Alvarez (a replacement for Torres), Philips (a replacement for Fernandinho), and Ortega (a free replacement for loanee Steffan). If Cuccarella comes, it will be to replace Mendy not Zinchenko.
OK you could argue that Grealish came in for no-one in particular. City have also transferred out: Porro (Sporting Club), Bazami (Southampton), Itakura (Borussia Monchengladbach), Gyabi (Leeds), and Lavia (Southampton) for a total sum of £43.5 million.
That adds up to £101 million in and £168 million out including Zinchenko (disregarding the circa £60 million for Torres which I will be surprised if City recoup!). Plenty of scope to buy a new left back!
Maybe Pep reckons that Palmer, McAtee, Delap, and others can step up to the first team squad? I really hope that is the case.
Apart from his second season where he was fucking woeful, Mahrez has been a superb signing.Too much disrespect for Mahrez on this forum. We only remember the good times after players leave. Everybody forgets the countless misses of Sterling and Jesus. The very dicey decision making of Sterling when on the break. Jesus' lacklustre performances as he juggled in and out the starting 11. Two years ago, I would've gone to war with anyone not saying Raz but the truth is he has been sub par for longer than what we call 'out of form'.
Mahrez is clearly the right answer. He gives a better G/A output than both of them, is technically better than both of them, has formed a solid connection now with Bernardo and De Bruyne. He is also extremely fit and has (touchwood) only missed 7 days of his professional career to injury. Pep & co. always make the right decisions. Trust them.
