About time women in the Muslim world got wise to being marginalised. The archaic laws of Islam are frankly a disgrace in the modern world. Fair play to these women and those who support them in Iran - I hope it spreads throughout the Muslim lands.

But it's worth mentioning that just because they don't benefit from it, it doesn't mean that women aren't just as likely as men to be imposing this patriarchal bullshit on their daughters and other women. There are videos on Twitter of these protesters being shouted at by conservative women. Women are often far more interested in policing what other women are wearing than men are. I started the thread so I know what it is about, my response to one about a global sea change after this.But this thread is about Iran, and in particular women being chased down the street by random people for showing their hair. I agree with you about religion it's all bollocks but the revolution about hat wearing is now firmly focused on Iran.
On a side note if the Muslim world decided that women shouldn't wear veils and coverings I don't believe it will spread to exotic places like Blackburn and Oldham.

When a culture and expectation of society has been entrenched for decades if not centuries upon women to conform then there will be those that won't welcome or support the challenge to patriachal bollocks and will actively support the doctorine, small steps though are good to see.
