Maicon

Prob the best he has played in a City shirt but I still dont think he is what we need. I am convinced he was brought in just for Champs lge experience which we now dont need so I doubt we will see much more of him this season.

He was partially to blame for their goal but I also think Joe needs to take some responsibility for it. He should have gone and collected it.

At times tonight he was fantastic, other times a sunday league player.
I thought he was going to get embarrassed last night with the start we made, but turned it round and did well in forward areas, just wish we could of had him 5 years ago

He had a decent enough game in the end, but his marking for their goal was inexcusable.

geez, I guess it may be nationalism (I am brazilian) but Hart should have been more aggressive. In Brazil we say, if the ball lands in the small box, its always the goalies fault. Guess its just different views on football, if Chelsea hits a wrong free throw, its always David Luiz's fault. Every mistake in an English team defence the commentators and public always blame the Brazilians, well if you put 11 Brazilian together why do we win so much more than any one else? Plus, tell me one european center back that is not italian that was as good as Lucio, Aldair, Luisao, etc. Differnet ways of viewing football. Enlighs people love to see everyone on their correct position, like their society is.. so correct, yet so boring and failing. English football is whack and stop blaming it all on brazilians, I registered just to post this. Im sick of the david luiz, andre santos, and maicon bashing on these forums

It was Maicon's fault. It was really really shit defending. I don't believe for one second that most people in Brazil think it was anything else. You are lying.

In Maicon's defence, he was put into a system the team is not comfortable with & there was a misunderstanding which cost the goal (& could have cost others) imo due to the manager making a terrible mistake. Later, Maicon played some good stuff.

Luiz is dog shit as a defender by the way & will lose Brazil the World Cup if picked.

Maicon should have been more aware of and covering the run BUT it shouldn't have mattered as Joe should have collected the ball with ease.It travelled 40 yards and landed about 5 yards out for Benzema. That's a misjudgement by Joe

only this.

I'm not sure the goal was all Maicons fault, If Zabeleta steps back 2 yards he would of nodded it away, he had enough time, also Madrid had one Striker on we had 3 centre halfs - surely one of those should have been picking up the striker?

since coming on as a sub in the spurs game ive been impressed, seems to link well the tevez, its as though they read each others game well.. We do spread the ball wide more when he plays which is what we need to draw defence out...

Shame we cant see sinclair have a game....

Whilst you may be correct that Joe could/should have come for it, there is no denying that Maicon was woefully negligent in not tracking HIS man. In the build up you see him look over his shoulder to see Benzema and then just totally ignore him. This is not Brazilian bashing, just an undeniable truth.

I agree with the earlier poster - I would happily play Maicon at right midfield but I don't have anywhere near total confidence in his defensive ability.

Even if Maicon didn't stop, I don't think he would of got round him in time to make a challenge.

It was the other 3 I was bothered about at the time who had about 5ft separating them.

Maicon was lazy and left his man, it was a mistake between him and Hart, HOWEVER I like your post.

I like it A LOT!

Maicon's a strange one, I was against his signing as I thought it was unfair on Richards and Zaba then after we signed Nastasic I thought Micah was going to play as a centre back with Maicon and Zaba rotating then I saw Nastasic play and knew we found a potential worldy and future captain(now I know in a few year time he will be world class) back to Maicon after saturday I was thinking "fuck he's a player I'll hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong!" then for the 25 minutes he looked like he was picked out of the crowd and told "go play son" then he played a one, two with Aguero and was unlucky not to score then he went back to being shite for the rest of the game, I can't make my mind up about Dougie.

We conceded the goal due to his fault

Not just his fault for the goal. Zabaletta was as much to blame being out of position.
In fact Zab had a poor game to start with lady boy was giving him a good going over (as per the last 10 mins in Madrid). Maicon had to drop too deep being an emergency fullback.
Once Zab was moved to the left hand side and Kolarov moved forward (and Maicon pushed back to be both a right full back / wing back were were much better.

Indeed Maicon had a fantastic last 2/3rds of the game.

Shame the lessons of the last 10 mins in Madrid were not learn't.

So that's both Maicon and Garcia are shite in your opinion

The amount of times he was available to receive the ball to forge another attack down the flank's was amazing but the Silva's,Nasri's and ya ya's and the rest didn't have the vision to pick him out.Just like the nervous defense don't have the confidence to carry the ball out from the backline even when there's farmer Gile's acres of space.City are to negative at time's and can be frustrating to watch but you can't argue with Mancini's record coz they keep winning.

He's direct and a shame he's 32 because if he was younger could be city's defense, midfield and attack rolled into one.

Get the cheque book out City and back your manager ya can afford it.
