Doesn't really matter any more. Have seen him shoot from the edge of the box more times than other full backs do and he does like to hit it with the out side of his boot.
No body except him knows if he meant it or not but I'm sure some of us have played football and made a pass or shot looking one way and playing it the other way to misguide the opposition. Not saying that Maicon did this as we would never know and even if he came out and said he meant it, that wouldn't be very strong of a case to believe him.
North Korea played very well though with great team work ethic, something some of our players need to learn.

The main problem with English football is lack of technique/skill n therefore when a world class player displays great technical ability most people just dont get it (or wont acknowledge it for some reason) FFS.

i felt after first watching it...it was a freak goal. then i watched the replay...he meant it!!!!
he may have tried to drill it across the face of goal...but he meant it.IMO!
