Maine Road redevelopment

Most of the pubs went when City left tbf
Most would have gone anyway when the curry mile changed from South Asian restaurants to mostly Middle Eastern places. 20-25 home games a year wasn't enough to keep them going if trade in between was almost non-existent.

Yeah suppose so, The Albert was the last one left and that went a couple of years ago

From memory Franny certainly used to like to tell people that he'd inherited the plans, and that's why the new Kippax came out hugely expensive but lacking modern facilities eg not as much corporate as he'd have liked.

Wasn't the contaminated ground on which the old Kippax had been built an issue too ?
I seem to recall it was only when it was demolished that they realised the ground had to be decontaminated before the new Kippax could be built and this significantly pushed up the cost. I also recall reading that Derby built Pride Park for less than it cost City just to build the new Kippax.
