at least mcdonalds have the decency to warn you that their boiling hot coffee, is ermmm, boiling hot.

Nevertheless a woman in the US sued McDonalds a few years ago after tucking a coffee between her legs while driving and it spilt, scalding her thighs. She sued them on the basis that there was no warning about the risk of scalding in such a situation and actually won a couple of million dollars compo.

Laserblue's filled in the details for those that don't know of the Maccy D's case.

In USA I think that when a case comes up like this they expect you to be absolutely stupid (e.g. a bag of nuts now has the warning 'may contain nuts') whereas in the UK it's still 'what can reasonably be expected'. Unfortunately when you've idiots like this still clinging to our planet what can reasonably be expected becomes less reasonable.

I once worked with a Maintenance Engineer in Ireland who successfully sued the company when he hit his thumb with a hammer, the basis of his claim was that he hadn't been trained how to use the hammer.

This lad's a 'self employed building maintenance worker'. I hope that's a window cleaner and he's done his working at heights course, he can't injure him self too easily on a bucket of water and a bit of washing up liquid. I wouldn't trust him to paint my driveway gates, he might drink the paint if it doesn't say 'do not drink' on the tin.

I love being served hot food, I can't stand it when any place serves me warm or cold food when it's not meant to be. I've had tea before which is lukewarm because of cry babies saying boiling water is too hot, who would have thought?
