Making a Murderer

The police over here are only arsed about conviction rates as well. Regardless of the language they use. Cops anywhere are never about truth and justice. They rely on conviction rates to pretend they are doing a job protecting society. Never trust a copper.
Absolutely brilliant documentary. So frustrating to watch. Also highlights the ineffective justice system. How Prosecutors and courts can submit and leave out anything they please.
Perhaps, but a big difference between the UK system and small town American criminal justice is that many cases wouldn't even get to trial in the UK without the CPS deciding there's a semi-reasonable chance of the prosecutors obtaining a conviction. You don't get anything like the same sort of pre-trial consideration in small town US.

I'm 2 hours in so will leave my full opinion on events until the full 10 hours has been watched.

But as it stands, I can safely say I am appalled by the local Police department that covered up so many lies, amongst the ineptitude and evil intention of some of its staff.

This documentary has gone viral, even 'anonymous' have released a statement regarding it. Thousands have signed a petition for the release of Steven Avery. I'd say watch this space on this one...

After ribbing malg earlier in the thread about this lasting 10 hours, I've started watching it and have to say it's fascinating. Like you, I'm only 2 hours in and while there looks to be compelling evidence against him regarding the murder, it seems all too convenient for my liking. DNA evidence saw his rape conviction rightfully quashed, and suddenly he's charged with a murder at the same time he's filing a $36 million lawsuit for the wrongful rape conviction. It's got stitch up written all over it!

Just finished it, do you actually think he did it? I can't see it in him personally, I think he's too thick to try and get away with it and it's one long inconsistent story throughout.

The person I really feel sorry for is his mum, she went through the 18 years of her son being wrongfully inprisioned, then the ordeal of the Theresa Hallbach case, the hate mail, the press hounding her everytime she left to go places, she looked troubled by the end.
There were so many inconsistencies that I couldn't actually believe a rational human being would vote that beyond a reasonable doubt he was guilty. The woman's car being found so easily in his lot, no blood evidence in that fucking shed, evidence being found months afterwards.....shocking. Fuck pissing the police off in America.

I'm 5 hours in now mate, I won't ruin it for you but by God it only gets worse. There's 3 members of that Police force that have liar written on their forehead.

Leaves out loads of information the **** was as guilty as sin

Nonsense, it's probably the most comprehensive trial documentary that has ever hit public consciousness.

In fact the comprehensiveness of the show is the number one trait given to it from reviewers and legal experts all over the place.

The fact that Ken Kratz, who was repeatedly offered to give interviews to the series and refused every time, has now come out after it has shed a bad light on him with this "left out evidence" is ridiculous and he cannot seem to keep his story straight about what that evidence is.

No doubt it was $$$$ motivated against his claim and the fact they were about to be found out they were bent throughout his first conviction.

I see Anonymous are apparently involved now

Up to 5 hours in myself now. Fucking hell, this gets ever more astonishing. The suspected tampering of Avery's blood sample from the original rape case, the car key that wasn't found during numerous previous searches, not to mention the utterly disgraceful coercing of his 16 year old nephew who has learning difficulties - they may as well have just written his confession for him going off the way they seemed to be putting ideas into his head. Maybe they got tips on that from the West Midlands police force! And all done without his lawyer present, not that he was much fucking use anyway given that he assumed he was guilty and couldn't possibly have been talked into confessing to something he wasn't guilty of.

Any **** that pours petrol over a cat and throws it in a bonfire deserves a horrible life

Not read this thread for fear of spoilers, but it's a fascinating piece of television. I'm only four episodes in, but it's a must watch for anyone with Netflix.
