man city- secretive club ...

Mancini is well aware that we need a player that has the pace, trickery and quality to provide a shock tactic. He has craved one for two years, Marwood delivered Sinclair.

You could argue Mancini should have scouted more than Hazard or Sanchez, how do you know he didnt?
He could have provided dossier's on loads of players and left it up to Marwood too deliver.

Although he wasn't at his very best yesterday I was genuinely afraid throughout that Hazard was going to do something special, when we play Stoke I'm worried Etherington will. Wingers are integral to every team, if our full backs weren't as good as they are we would be shafted.

I think we aren't an especially quick team. When it come to the summer we need to buy a genuinely fast player so we can counter attack quickly.
Our problem isn't counter-attacking, although I do agree a genuinely quick player (apart from Aguero) would be useful to have.

Our problem is breaking down packed defences with 10 men lined up behind the ball, a quick player isn't going to solve that. We need either a genuine class long distance shooter to force teams to come out and cover them or a couple of wide players who can stretch the opponents back 4 leaving gaps for us to exploit.

We are supposed to use our fullbacks for width but Clichy's biggest weakness is not having a decent cross (and I think he is class still) and both Zabba and Micah both tend to cut inside creating even more congestion in the penalty area instead of pulling the fullback out to the sideline.

Hate to say it but the scums tactics of pinging it to a winger who gets to the byeline and then whacks it as hard as he can into the middle of the box to some expensive strikers tends to get results. It's just a fancy percentage game, similar to Fat Sam, Stoke etc except played with wingers instead of hoof-ball to a target man and winning the second ball.
I was surprised Mancini didn't use Kolarov and Dzeko late on. Dzeko can be devastating in those late-stage counter-attacks.

I've just posted that in the relevant 'Mancini' thread

Its better in its own for all to see, sorry didn't see your post but I hope the moderaters keep it here :)

He's just being his normal precious self.

I'm glad we are now being perceived as a secretive club.

Fuck the press, just give those that tow the line the exclusives.

Life has been quieter since we have got rid of the players who leaked stories and since balo left they havent had much ammo to throw at us in the press other than mancini's days being numbered...

Beating the average sides is about letting them have the ball more we need a shitter midfield ;)

That's how United do it...
There was a stat on before the derby that showed that De Gae had had to save something more than double the amount of shots that Joe Hart has. and has let in more goals too. Teams go at United more and have more shots at them than they do against us; that opens up the pitch allows United to exploit space to score goals. Teams - apart from the top sides and Swanse/Southampton - just sit back and defend against us. If they nick a goal they sit back even more.

" . . . . . a billion pounds spent."

Is it just me, or does anyone always take these thrown in comments as implying that it money wasted! Even if it were a billion, much of it is investment!
It is a figure that includes: the cost of buying the club and any capital expenditure undertaken since; and excludes our revenue in the last four and a half years and any receipts from sales of players.

And it's still fucking wrong!

We need a Peter Barnesesq player ie can use his right foot and left foot equally well, can deliver pin point crosses after pinpoint crosses, can drop a shoulder and beat a man with pace either inside or outside, or can just dribble the opposition team and beat all 11 players on the park a la Chesea at home late 70's when after beating what seemed the entire Cheslea players on the pitch he laid it on a plate for Mick Channon to score.

Now who out there can do all that!! Not sure there is anyone....however Bale would be a super signing and would certainly tick a couple of the above mentioned boxes!!

That kind of player is one of several options we lack imo. We also lack a really great aerial striker (Dzeko is supposed to be that, but isn't) & genuine pace in all areas. Only Yaya really has it & we can see the effect a bit of pace has when our passing game opens up gaps for him. Several players with that kind of speed, allied to our keepball game would cause the oppo nightmares & also help us close down quicker.

It will be interesting to see how Mancini approaches this in the summer. If he goes out & addresses these problems, we will go up a level & be a force in Europe imo, if however he goes down the route of chasing more Javi Martinez/Garcia type plodders who can play midfield + CB & fullbacks for his back 3 system, I think next season will be his last.
