Man City's tactic, similar to Barca's?

With regards to the passer, I think Schweinsteiger is a good call, but are we forgetting Milner?

I understand with milner but although his passing range is good its not on the top level. It would be a strain keeping De Jong, Barry, Yaya, Milner, Silva, AJ, SWP, Vieira and a new guy all happy. But we could unload SWP and Vieira isn't wanting to play every game.

Is he a passer? I'd play him as the forward midfielder (Yaya) or on either side of the front 3.

-- Fri Nov 26, 2010 2:36 pm --

No you play 5 across the midfield half the time.

Because the system is fluid and allows that when defending.

He did it for germany in the world cup and has been doing it for Bayern for a while now i think.

I was referring to Milner... I suggested Schweiny earlier.

If this is ww we're back in the 50's. That's the last time it was popular.

WORTH READING.

Not really as Neither Baca or we play like the old ww. Their and hopefully our full backs go all the way forward beyond the midfield but asymmetrically. This creates a rotation in positions generally around in our case NDJ. WW is all back and forward and doesn't work with the pace of todays players but pivoting the back 4 around an anchor midfielder ensures there is cover behind the advanced fullback. This is the modern way.

We are a million miles off the likes of Barcelona, lets not kid ourselves.

Julie, the op isn't saying that, he is saying thats what we are aiming for and its also something that a lot other top teams understand hence, Evra at the rags, Cole and Invanovic at chelski, ramos and marcelo at real and maicon and chivu at Inter. I would say that within a year AK will be on a par with Evra and Cole the two best left backs in the world and who knows how good jerome will become and zabs can do the job, If we signed Alves we wouldn't (as we aren't) be a million miles behind Barca.

Any ideas who our xavi could be??
Javier Pastore....young(21), tall(1.87 m), skillful (very good passer), and Argentine! ;)

On the moving zaba up to right mid thing i dont think this would work as he does posses a good enough attacking threat to play this role
