Man dies after collision with Metrolink

The poor person may well have been a member of the white wire gang
The reason I say this is cos I worked on the exterior of debenhams a few years back
And when the trams come around the market high corner they always do a double toot on the horn
Every single time they went round. the poor sod.

I'm amazed people don't don't hit by trams on a daily basis. Some people are absolute fuckwits (not saying this guy was, we don't know the circumstances) in front of trams.

They see a bit metal tram heading towards them and walk in front of it. feel sorry for the driver. They must have nerves of steel.

... considering how many trams there are criss crossing the city centre accidents are few and far between thank goodness
Considering how many people wander around in the city centre, face down in the latest must-chat mobile phone and with music blasting into their ears, it's a surprise there aren't more accidents.

And yet those damn stationary canals have claimed how many lives in the last few years? Sneaky fuckers.

A sad day. The Metrolink is one of the best things in Manchester and the drivers seem to be sensible when it comes to the public walking areas. I wonder what happened?
One of the best things abput Manchester ???!!!
You are quite clearly mad.
RIP unnamed victim.
TBF the tram takes you out of the shithole, so I can see his point.

RIP to the fella

I have no answer to this.

To people who aren't so far up their own arse that they're singing Major Tom, the Metrolink is a cheap and reliable form of transport for the masses that connects many different parts of Greater Manchester together whilst running through the City of Manchester. I know that this might not be important for somebody who struggles to fit that pyramid shape into the square block like your therapist always wanted, but those of us who have relied on it for both work and social transportation, like I don't know, THE ETIHAD STADIUM, feel an affinity towards it.

Friend of mine who was in the area when it happened posted on facebook saying that lots of sick fuckers stood there taking pictures on their phones........

Hardly a surprise is it. Same as the cunts who slow down and rubberneck at accidents on motorways.

I work just round the corner from there and I'm amazed there's not more accidents in that area. That bit where the road comes down the side of Primark is a nightmare. The number of people I've seen walking up the pedestrianised bit of Market Street and not even realising its a road and wandering across without looking is frightening.

I don't work in Manchester any more. But I did for many years and was amazed at how dangerous the trams were in certain areas.

I think it was the bit near Debenhams where the corner is dangerous from memory. As you walk towards Debenhams from the gardens. A long time ago now so the memory is a little vague. The trams tend to "swing in" towards the kerb as they come round the bend. Used to find it scary.

I'm not surprised when I hear of people being hit by trams and killed. I heard about this today and wasn't surprised at all.
