It's not like this hasn't been coming.
It's not like we can't cope without him.
It's not like we haven't got the money to replace him.
Yes he's scored the most of our goals, but as a lone front man that's to be expected. In the game against bolton he fluffed his lines on numerous occasions, as our players were putting them on a plate for him time after time. He's one hell of a player and it will need serious quality to replace him, but it's not like that quality is out of reach is it?
I am convinced that we can actually be a better team without him. There are few players that are as good as Carlos at what he does, but do not underestimate how much having a bigger front man who can bag with his head would add to our attacking play. It'd bring a whole new dimension that isn't currently there. Silva and Kolarov and co would actually be able to whip crosses in and not just have a little midget to aim for. Other players will bring different qualities to the team which could actually improve the team on the whole
To me this isn't half as bad as when SWP wanted to go. We were so reliant on him back then that it was a huge blow for us, but we proved yesterday we can do just as well without him, and that was with a sulky, unreliable 20 year old boy up front.
If he wants to go, let him go. We'll get a good fee and I'm sick of reading about how he wants to retire every other week. If he wants out, sell him, replace him with quality and we'll continue to move forward
