Manc bands that never got the acclaim they deserved

lol I have that Manchester North Of England tape somewhere. It has dux sex and the Waltones on doesn't it?
It is hid away with all my Stu Allan, Maximes and Bowlers tapes somewhere.

I've got that original cassette mate - that tape got me into countless bands on there - it's brilliant.

Problem I have now, is i don't have a tape recorder!!!!

The Wedding Present..........grew up on Hollin Estate (Middleton)with the Chameleons

David Gedge went to Hollins High, lived in Boarshaw for a few years but considers TWP to be a Leeds band as he was born in Yorkshire and the band were formed when they went to Leeds Uni.

Agree - and Johnny (Bramwell) Dangerously too. (nice pop at Morrissey in that song which I found funny!)
Lots of good tunes in there, Railway Children, Carpets (original singer??), James, Penny Priest and the song about Janice Long!

Johny was a top lad used to have a few beers with him in the boardwalk after a gig
