Manc bands that never got the acclaim they deserved

They did. I was in school with the guitarist, Mark. Quiet lad in school believe it or not.

Alot of them are. Barney Greenway from Napalm Death roars ferocious lyrics on stage yet has a Brummie accent, is vegetarian, teetotal and really relaxed.

A more recent one from Liam Frost. Pure class, how a lad with his talent isn't a much bigger star is beyond me. Apparently some record industry box once told him he sounded 'too Manc'. Says it all, really

don't post often but the fact that nobody at all has brought up

THE CHAMELEONS

has absolutely astounded me. They are the most underated band from anywhere, never mind Manchester.

Check the very first song posted in the original post ;)

Agree - and Johnny (Bramwell) Dangerously too. (nice pop at Morrissey in that song which I found funny!)
Lots of good tunes in there, Railway Children, Carpets (original singer??), James, Penny Priest and the song about Janice Long!

The Carpets are touring again with their original singer. I really wanted to go to see them and the Mondays but it was right in the middle of my exams. They are on at V fest so I shall watch them there. Will be interesting to see how they sound outdoors as I have only ever seen them at the Ritz.

The best anti Morrisey song is the one by family foundation on their ep. It has the Johhny Rogan going on about his beinga racist. Top quality ep that one.

I've got that original cassette mate - that tape got me into countless bands on there - it's brilliant.
