Manchester’s Changing Skyline

Of course they will. You won't get an argument from me on that point. The landlords better be ready, though, for a lot of claims when "little Johnny" walks into a pillar because he's not watching where he's going! As for the "time moves on" point; is that always a good thing? As a fully paid up member of the FOC club, I'm not convinced that it is universally a good thing.

I's not, you're right. Many fantastic old buildings have been demolished to make way for dreadful modern buildings(at the time). The Arndale Centre being the worst building in my opinion, that will forever blight Manchester city centre.

Compare that monstrosity to, say, Chetham's. Or the cathedral. Or the town hall. Or the shambles. Or, or, or etc etc.

And yes; I realise that the cost of building a carbon copy of the town hall today would be frightening to even think about, never mind actually take on. Bottom line; pounds, shillings and pence.

Refurbing the town hall is costing £375mill. The original budget was £350mill.

Printworks, digital ceiling.

I’m lucky enough to be amongst the top tier team of people who pulled off being the first brand on Manchester Printworks’ brand new digital ceiling. After hearing and seeing plans about this years ago, I knew it was going to be something completely different to what the Uk has seen before. After the multimillion pound refurb of the entier centre, the new assets are pushing the limits and capabilities to become the destination for brands to create something special here. And to be in the team who made it possible to be the *first* to do it, I couldn’t be happier.

@jrb do you think that would work on the new ceiling in the fan zone at City

It could, but it’s not happening. The fan zone will be a steel and glass roof and ceiling, as shown in the PA. I’m more excited about the North stand viewing platforms. They will be something unique to The Etihad stadium and to City.

Muse has submitted an application for the next office building at the commercial complex, the 60,000 sq ft 4 Stockport Exchange.

Up to 100 apartments also feature within the next four phases at the £145m Stockport Exchange, located next to the town’s train station.

Outline plans have also been lodged for another 185,000 sq ft of workspace and the apartments in future phases.

Without doubt one of the best Architect practices in Manchester.

Stocport town Centre and the surrounding area is seeing a lot of investment, offices, apartments, a new transport interchange, etc. It’s such a shame Mersey Square is still on it’s arse.

Ollier Smuthwaite Architects is leading the redevelopment of Edward Mellor’s Stockport headquarters. A planning application for the 207-home project is expected to be submitted in the coming weeks.

The redevelopment will see the existing office refurbished with additional office and retail space added. Two new-build blocks on the building’s car parks are proposed and would feature 207 apartments in total.

There would be 147 one-bedroom flats and 60 with two bedrooms.
