For anyone interested...
My book "Manchester A Football History" is currently at the printers and is expected back during the first week of December. This is slightly earlier than anticipated.
The book tells the story of Manchester football since the 1600s through to this season.
Since the first edition came out in April 2008 the book has been enlarged to include:
- information on the last couple of seasons
- the furore about the Tevez poster (and Utd's use of 'their' banner in official advertising earlier)
- the story of how Manchester Council initially tried to persuade Utd to move into Eastlands
- where Maine Rd got its name
- the latest facts about City's birth as St. Mark's
- Manchester's Transfer Trail (showing every transfer by the Manchester region sides described as a 'record fee' and also every transfer by City & Utd over £7m)
and much more.
As the book also covers the other Manchester region sides there's some new material on each of them (for example Rochdale's promotion, Oldham's proposed move, Hyde's City support).
The book now contains 544 pages plus an 8 page colour section and will retail at £24.95. Anyone interested in ordering it direct before publication can order it for a discounted £20 (before 1st December, after that the price reverts back to £24.95) from http://www.manchesterfootball.org
Images of the new cover can be seen at:

Incidentally, "Joe Mercer, OBE: Football With A Smile" is still available and sample pages can also be seen on the facebook page.
Thanks,
Gary
