For anyone interested...

My book "Manchester A Football History" is currently at the printers and is expected back during the first week of December. This is slightly earlier than anticipated.

The book tells the story of Manchester football since the 1600s through to this season.

Since the first edition came out in April 2008 the book has been enlarged to include:

- information on the last couple of seasons
- the furore about the Tevez poster (and Utd's use of 'their' banner in official advertising earlier)
- the story of how Manchester Council initially tried to persuade Utd to move into Eastlands
- where Maine Rd got its name
- the latest facts about City's birth as St. Mark's
- Manchester's Transfer Trail (showing every transfer by the Manchester region sides described as a 'record fee' and also every transfer by City & Utd over £7m)

and much more.

As the book also covers the other Manchester region sides there's some new material on each of them (for example Rochdale's promotion, Oldham's proposed move, Hyde's City support).

The book now contains 544 pages plus an 8 page colour section and will retail at £24.95. Anyone interested in ordering it direct before publication can order it for a discounted £20 (before 1st December, after that the price reverts back to £24.95) from http://www.manchesterfootball.org

Images of the new cover can be seen at:

Incidentally, "Joe Mercer, OBE: Football With A Smile" is still available and sample pages can also be seen on the facebook page.

Thanks,

Gary

I'm trying to get all my city books signed, Only managed to get a few of em done upto now, goater and corrigan books still need doing but if you have signed copys available i would be intrested.

The delivery date on the publishers site says "late december", do you know if it will be here in time for Christmas if I order now, it would be a great present from my Grandad, (and I could borrow it after he's finished it!)

Cheers

Any books ordered direct from the publishers will be signed by me. I usually just sign them best wishes but if you want a proper dedication like "To Carlos, best wishes..." then email info@manchesterfootball.org after ordering it (or if paying by paypal put it in the space for special instructions/notes) and let them know. Important to do this by 17th November for any orders already made.

As for delivery.... it is expected back from the publishers before 1st December and any ordered before publication will be despatched before the book is sent to bookshops. The late December comment on the website and Amazon is simply because the publishers can't guarantee the postal system.

The publishing date has been altered on the ISBN registration to mid December but it's not filtered through to all stores etc.

Also, the price will be returning to its official price of £24.95 once published, so if you're thinking of ordering it, do it via www.manchesterfootball.org as soon as possible and you'll be one of the first 100 or so to receive it (there were about 60 subscribers) for a discounted price.

Obviously, orders can be made via Amazon and so on as well, but they won't be signed etc.

If there's a supporters branch and/or other groups that would like to make a bulk order then let me know and I'll see what can be sorted.

Thanks.

Nice one Gary. Be a great Christmas gift for a couple of my nearest and dearest.

Will you be attending the supporters party? Be an honour to stand you a pint.
