Under Mancini we have played some sublime football..

Are you winding us up - When was that? Start of last season? To be honest we haven't played sublime football in a long time - pedestrian, predictable and one dimensional but certaintly not sublime

Fuck me, have you been asleep these last few weeks. Chelsea, Red Shite at OT, The first goal at home to West Ham. We've played some really good stuff at times. To say "in a long time" is absolute bollocks.

Fuck me with a multi million pound collection of top talent - I would expect to see some really good stuff on a consistent basis. But where was that good stuff in against Wigan or Swansea? - seems like it's easier for the players to get themselves motivated for the big games. Too many games this season we haven't looked up for it; Everton, Southampton. Sublime my arse

Mancini is loved just as much if not more than RDM was at Chelsea. I see the same unwelcoming atmosphere evolving at the Etihad if they replace Mancini for a guy who has won the total of 'Fuck all' in his career.

It's not how we are at City, levets.

We always welcome new managers. It will never be as unwelcome a change as Hughes for Sven was, and even he was warmly welcomed.

Was just typing the same. How many other clubs would have a 'Save our Sven' campaign ffs? We're just far too loving, like a dog exposed to the abuses of his evil red neighbours willing to cling onto anything we think will allow us escape.

If Pellegrini came there would be no animosity. They would try and wrangle it as such on Sky as usual but as usual it would be twisted bollocks. We wouldn't be signing his name like Mancini but you wouldn't be seeing waves of A4 'Pellegrini Out' posters either.

I think all the warm welcomes were born out of our desperation for someone who could deliver us a team to be proud of and more importantly someone who could deliver us trophies Mancini as done this in every full season he has been here. Now we waited long enough for someone to take us to the promised land I just dont understand why people would want to undo what has hhappened over the last four seasons.

Do not underestimate how good this Pelli guy is. Not saying he should come to us but generally he knows what he is doing more so than a lot of people realise. One of his strongest skills is man management. Not every 'top' manager has this skill yet it is pivotal these days. Just saying like...

You said we haven't played sublime football in a long time, when we clearly have. Who said anything about consistent?

Pace, pace, wingers, wingers!....whack it in the box!

We are used to possession football now we can't remember a time when 3 passes to a blue shirt was a miracle..

Remember when Mancini 1st became our manager and the media when scoring a goal after 22 passes was waxing lyrical now its the norm no one bats an eyelid when we score after keeping the ball for a minute..

Now we play possession and wait for the moment like the 1st goal against West ham that was a sublime goal Newcastle away we great for the first 20 minutes.

That;s the thing with the way Mancini has got us playing, we are capable, at any given time, of playing some truly exceptional, attractive, football and putting any side to the sword. However, when it doesn't work, it looks slow, deliberate and toothless. Mancini's got his strengths and his faults, the fualts would seem to fall into a couple of areas, Man Management and stubbornness. He doesn't build natural relationships with his players, he's all stick and no carrot. Plus he thinks his way is the only way, and won't be aswayed by the evidence. We don't have a plan B as such, if the slow, methodical passing, and attaching centrally doesn't work then we don't really deviate too much from that. And he still insists on trying the 3-5-2 formation when each and every time we've gone to it we've looked unsettled and far from dangerous.

Personally I'm on the fence as to whether I want Mancini to go. I think if he stays I'll be happy, but I also wouldn't be crying if he left.

Great post my thoughts exactly.

He was just what we needed when he joined tightened up the defence and took no crap from prima donna's. Last year we played beautiful football!

This year well i hope we hang onto 2nd and it will be just that and i hope we win the FA Cup but it will be papering over the cracks!

We look stale its Mancini's man management skills are no longer working and its always the players fault not his! Sorry but the buck stops with him and he should be able to motivate the players for every match.

He is stubborn and a little arrogant his constant refusal to ditch 3 at the back always bites us on the arse and we have no plan B.

Maybe it is time for a change but i would be truly gutted if he left!

Exactly what I meant with my poor dog metaphor (sorry!). It really has been worse for us too, because we're the direct neighbours of a team that's been so successful without being anywhere close ourselves in many of our lifetimes. If you grew up in Manchester any time after we were last any good (which was a fair old span), it's been a constant put down since you were old enough to even know what football teams were. It's lead to an attitude of constantly comparing ourselves, but driven by this desperation to never go back to how it was. I think a huge reason many City fans want Mancini to stay is because we've seen the success sticking with one man can bring over the very long term - but the thought that Mancini may not be 'our Ferguson' hasn't really had a look in. Some are just shit scared of changing managers.

Why would we want Pellegrini? Malaga are 25 points behind Barcelona in La Liga - hardly barnstorming success.

Imagine Fulham or Aston Villa contesting for Champions League spot and an offside goal away from knocking Dortmund out , all under great financial strain , their respective managers would have already been tipped to replace Chelsea/City or United manager.

There is a reason they call him "Engineer" and mayor of Malaga has confirmed that the city will name a street in honour of Manuel Pellegrini.
Yes, there is a reason they call him "engineer". It's because he has a degree in... You guessed it ! Engineering !
