Manchester City close on Pellegrini (merged)

I've had me wobbles about Mancini (generally after shite performances like Soton away), buit given the wonderful news from Salford this morning, I think it would be daft to upset the apple cart at this point.

With Chelsea and rags trying to find their feet with new managers next season the continuity of Mancini is something that will/hould work in our favour next term. We could domestically dominate for a number of years if we play our cards right.

CL is the big ? for me, any decision made will be based on this moving forward, but not sure its the right move to get rid, especially if we win the cup.

Our owners aren't stupid. Second place finish and an FA Cup (if things pan out as we hope they will) does not a justified sacking make.

who gives a fuck about europe, the premier league is our priority, sick to fucking death of people carping on about mancini cant get teams through the group stage, big deal.
Im sure the owner, Begiristain, Soriano and most fans do

everyone I know who has been going a long time would put the league first and foremost, above ANY cup competition; all would like to do well in both of course, but league is priority

The league is obviously the priority but the the revenue and prestige gained from the CL is crucial for the development of the club.

I really don't know why they offered him that other than PR purposes but signing it doesn't stop him doing whatever he wants does it? Any my understanding is everyone knew it was really only for 3 years at most.

It could certainly explain why Guardiola went to Bayern if he thought Mancini was here for two more years and also ties in nicely with salfordpaul's info that he (PG) is coming here in 2 years.
Come on p.b
Lets be honest, theres not one single person on this forum who knows whats going to happen regarding managerial changes at our club
Its all guesswork

Thats the only thing that is true on here, nobody knows a flying duck about this...
Not a diddly squat mate, only a handfull of people will be privy to that info
Transfers is a dif ballgame, tolmie, dan & zin are the only folk on here who's post i have an interest in...

I'm with you all the way but iunfortunately that's not how football at the top level works today. Make no mistake about it City will want Champions League success or at least some progress next season to keep the club progressing.

Agreed. However we also need to keep up the level of domestic success. If we finish second and win the FA Cup (and I no way take that for granted even if Wigan can barely scrape together 11 fit players) then Mancini or his successor next season has to improve on that or maintain that level as a minimum i.e automatic CL qualification and Cup success.

Slipping back domestically will only be acceptable if we win the CL. Getting to a QF or SF in the CL doesn't float my boat when compared to actually winning stuff. I'm happy to leave that approach to Arsenal.

Bettering our recent domestic record will take some doing even with the removal of the Dark Lord and Pellegrini does not inspire confidence. I know Benitez is a pain in the arse as is Mancini and Mourinho etc but I'd be happier if we had this calibre of manager in the frame if Mancini moves elsewhere. Pellegrini talks a good game but his CV screams mid-table manager where not too much is expected.

Am also struck by the lack of media chatter on this yesterday. In fact outside of this forum and some media outlets in Spain everything was remarkably quiet. Today fair enough but yesterday not a peep out of anyone that I could see.

Oh and Mancini at AC Milan next season. Anyone nibbling on that one?

With the Sith Lord retiring it would be insane to fire a settled manager who is well on his way to building his desired squad. Give him the cheque book and another year and I think next season will be ours.
