Manchester City releases 2023-24 Annual Report | Record £715m revenue, profit of £73m

Sounds like a United fan on the wind up having read it again

But this part always amuses me

Remember the £13.5m team we spanked 5-1?

That money was borrowed from the banks & if memory servers (cba checking), equated to 84% of their turnover across the 2 years they splurged that cash in tte late 80’s

Imagine us spending 84% of our turnover on players in the next 2 seasons ;)
I wonder how many times United would have failed FFP/PSR rules if they had been in place for from 1990 to 2009. And how many titles would they have won without being allowed unlimited spending when their turnover was more than five times that of any other top flight club? Their fans must be the biggest hypocrites in the history of sport.

I can't back this up but I once read an article that I cannot find now, that stated that between 1985 and 2014, Manchester United would have failed modern (UEFA) FFP 4 times. I'm 80% sure it was by Paul Tomkins.

Wasn’t it raised from the flotation dispite Football League rules forbids a club being floated so the rags formed a holding company and floated that

So they enjoyed unlimited spending with unlimited debts for a 25 year period when their revenues were massively higher than any other club. Perhaps they need an asterix alongside their titles!

But this is the problem isn't it?

People like you who have no idea how to read a financial report, commenting on stuff you don't understand.

I know it sounds harsh, and I doubt you care, but this is how hyperbolic stories start amongst fanbases.

Fancy trying to discuss how we pay Corporation Tax, which is one of the trickier sides of accounting, and then saying you never made it past page one of the annual report.
to be fair it was a joke, I completely understand financial documents and fully understand corporation tax and all other forms of taxes

Possibly, although I thought they did that a couple of years later? Again cbs checking so I’ll take your word for it bud :)

Not even once……… because they’d have been given allowances not available to any other club.
