To be honest, I might be wrong on the author but it definitely existed. Do you remember that twat who used to own financialfairplay.com and made up a bunch of horseshit about us then deleted it when it was shown he was talking shite? It was during that era. Ok, so 1988-90 they spent the banks cash to get going

Then when that ran out, as you say, circumnavigated the financial rules of the time by floating their holding company in 1991, to splurge even more & gain even more of an advantage

1992 Cut the PL deal to gain an even bigger advantage

1998 were part of the G14 who decided that the best thing for football would be more than than one team per country in the CL to generate those 14 clubs more revenue

Since 2008 I’ve repeatedly been told that’s what ‘organic growth’ & a level playing field looks like :)
