when watching the video clip of that game, when the 4th goal is scored the commentator say's "and surely thats it"

then as the final whistle blows, they announce Manchester City as the champions of England.

Had the united game already finished? They actually lost at home to Sunderland, but did everybody already know this?

I think if City won that day, it was irrelevant what the vermin did as we were ahead of them going into the final fixtures.

We had a far superior goal average (exactly 2, iirc - 86 for, 43 against), so the win guaranteed the title.

At half time at Newcastle, they announced the score from the swamp - Rags 1, Sunderland 2.

At full time, they announced "Manchester United 1................ I never heard the rest!

Well done mate, that was fantastic, my era and was at a good many of those games, will watch that many more times. Makes you realise just how good some of the previous City teams and players were. Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to do another one of our victories over the rags from the 60'70's.
