According to the Daily Star, the Bayern Munich dynamo is also wanted by Chelsea and Real Madrid, and with attention so intense for the French winger it's thought the Citizens could turn their attention to Gourcuff - dubbed the new Zinedine Zidane.

The Bordeaux midfielder has also been recommended to Real by the former France superstar, something which has seen his valuation sky-rocket to around £25 to £30 million.

City may also face competition from a host of leading European outfits for the talented midfielder, but securing Champions League football for next season would give them another advantage.

wish this was more reliable. 'could turn their attention to', not very comforting, therefore made up. Unfortunately.

Fantastic player, just what we need a playmaker with class, vision, if only this would be true. I can't see it though tbh. Prove me wong Bobby.

I feel the same. The Daily Star is an awful paper.

Anything on Goal.com is pretty much a joke too.

One of my all time favourite goals. Stunning.

I thought goal.com just report what other sites have already said.

I've been reading this on goal.com as well, they say Manchester City to settle for Gourcuff if Ribery declines.
Settle is completely the wrong word used by the writer, you don't settle for a player like Gourcuff you have to hunt him down and hope he signs. Pfff settle!

In my opinion Ribery should stay with Bayern or go elsewhere, just not here.
He's a useful player for on the bench though, but at the moment our own Adam Johnson is a better option. Even ikkle Scrawny has had a better season than Ribery and that does mean something.
