Manchester City V Aston Villa pre match thread

here's how I see it..tomorrow we'll destroy Villa, 3 or 4 nil...no disrespect, but it feels like it could be one of those games. But then comes Sunday...we'll all be bricking it, knowing that all we need to do is NOT LOSE.... in 2012, lets face it, everyone in the side struggled with the occasion, and we were awful for long periods but we somehow found our mojo in injury time..I can seriously see a similar day again..slow start, Liverpool race ahead into a comfortable lead..we are making hard work of a supposedly straightforward game, and the nerves will kick in..we need only a draw, but it's too risky to sit back..and here's the difference...I think we'll start to play the game not the occasion at an earlier stage this time and players like Komps, Zabba, Milner, Yaya, Fernadino, Silva and Kolarov will start owning the ball...and providing the ammo for our front two...I predict that our 2014 hero will be..."the beast"

We need to make a statement, take this opportunity by the scruff of the neck and win this title in style.

Any news on Agbonlahor? They are already without Benteke. Losing Agbonlahor would be a blow for them

Lambert says he will play to win. What else is he going to say?

Everyone says Villa are good on the counter-attack, and that's why they are good away from home but their record away in the League this season is surprisingly not that good:

W4 D5 L8 GF17 GA25

That's not really bad for a team who secured staying up last weekend to collect half of their points away from home.

How many league games have we lost at the Etihad in the last 3 seasons,is it 5?
Reliably informed it's 3,thats 3 home losses in the last 55 league home games,we will do this and win the league by 2 points

Both sets of GaYs last season. 2-3 each time.

And the chavs this term. 0-1.

Not sure about the title-winning season, but I can't recall us losing any league games in 11-12.

Sunderland draw were only 2 points we lost at home in title winning one.

I'm a Villa fan, and, in reply to some of the stuff posted here:

- I can't stand Liverpool. I hope they never win the league again. Ever.

- I don't really give too much of a shit if you've bought the league. Money rules. There's no point getting upset about it. If it isn't you it'll just be someone even more objectionable, like Chelsea.

- VillaTalk is populated by uppity spastics. You're lucky you couldn't post there.

- There is some utter bollocks on here about Villa. To suggest our fans are any more bitter about you than anyone else is rubbish. Some of us even remember the "Good Luck Villa, From the City of Manchester" banner, but I suspect most of those rolling out the "bitter" line weren't around that far back.

re tomorrow

- Benteke isn't just out (I cant believe some of you are acting like this is a surprise, he can't stand up to go for a piss at the moment, let alone play, he's out till Christmas)

- we have a much better record against decent sides than we do shit ones. We beat you, obviously (although the first half was the most one sided 45 minutes I've ever seen), but we also took a point at Anfield, won at the Emirates, beat Chelsea at home and should have won at Stamford Bridge but for a ludicrous refereeing performance.

- we are a team which is affected massively by confidence. When we've got it, we are capable of playing very well indeed, way beyond our league position. When we don't have it, we are one of the worst teams in the league. Tomorrow we're safe, we've got nothing to play for, the pressure is totally off. My money is not on us winning or getting anything, but I am almost certain it will be one of our better displays, absolutely.

I genuinely dont understand why so many of you seem so bitter. We are currently financially entirely feeble. We are no threat to you, but there seems a fair old amount of bitterness.

Basically, it'll be an interesting game tomorrow, but, just like it was the fact that Liverpool weren't good enough to beat Palace which screwed them last night, if you can't beat us, then maybe you don't deserve to win the league.

We'll find out tomorrow.

Your absolutely right, if we don't beat you tomorrow then we don't deserve to win the title. But with the players your missing I can't honestly see an upset.

No City fan I know dislikes Villa.

Seen as one of the traditional big City clubs that's being marginalised by the power of those clubs in the Champions League.

We know money rules. And our success is because of it. It's next to impossible to compete without it, but now the @@@@@@@ fine you for even spending it when they have been doing it for years. They've got that far ahead that how else can you catch up but by spending, but then they say you can only spend if you have the revenues. And who has those, the biggest clubs at the top of the pile. Chicken and the egg.

It'll be about pressure tomorrow. Liverpool slipping up should make it much easier as there should be no reason to panic if we don't score an early goal. City are an experienced team now, and have some faith. The Sunderland draw was in a bad moment after we had lost at Liverpool and setbacks like that take a bit of getting over.

I think City will win comfortably. But you never know in football.

Even though I'm a United fan, its only fair I admit that the last few minutes of the Everton game my nerves were fuckin shot. Thankfully you pulled it off! I was in the house decorating when you played the Dippers the other week, and when you got it back to 2-2 I was jumping for joy....(over come with emulsion you might say!) and had the chances to go on and win it. Unfortunately the unwashed got a winner which ruined our weekend. But the result at Palace last night has reignited my fading belief that there actually is a god after all. So come on Citeh! Don't fuck up now for fucks sake. Some champagne football against Villa will shut them gobby fuckers up once and for all.

I desperately need to see that shithouse Gerrard and the goofy racist in tears again.

A couple of my mates are City fans and I will be celebrating along with them once the job is done. So go and do it.

From the bottom of all our hearts, all the very best to you all, and hope you get it done.

We're all

I tell ye...

Sounds like Agbonlahor could be out with a knee injury - me thinks good he could have cause us some problems with his pace ...

No disrespect to Villa, but this all depends on how focussed and professional City are. If we are up for it, we will win comfortably, if we're not, any of the relegated teams would beat us tomorrow, same applies for Sunday.

I'm sure Villa will play well, but the ball is in our court and how much we want it, regardless of who starts for them or who is injured, it makes little difference who they put out.

Times like these you really find out about certain players. We did in 11/12 with Yaya. I would like to think we have players who want this as much as/more than we do.
