CBA wading thru' thread, but seemed that a lot of players were included to allow the manager to have a look at them:
Young players to possibly bolster first team
Some of the more experienced players were allowed an opportunity to impress in a competitive (ish) game whilst the club decide to retain/flirt them
Players who have had long term injuries
TBH just annoyed at myself for thinking that this match might be something more that a run out

bloody hell. just had a read through this thread. there's some serious overreaction. This match meant nothing and I dare say that a fair few of today's players won't figure much this season
