No, they are full time footballers.

what do they get paid? £1000 a week? or less or more?

Not sure, but if they are anything like their tennis equivalents, they will be demanding pay parity before long.

Its almost the most ridiculous thing in sport that female tennis players earn as much as the men

Not only are they nowhere near as talented or athletic as the men (therefore the matches are far inferior in quality) but a womens' match lasts at its absolute longest what a mans' match lasts at its absolute shortest.

When a women can show she can still chase down an impossible shot and crack off a sublime return to keep a 30th shot in a 33 shot rally in the ninth game of the fifth set, then I might say they should be paid what the male tennis players are paid.

The blokes should claim overtime on what they do extra than the wimmin!

Or make them play 5 sets like the chaps do, on 2nd thoughts....no...3 sets is dull enough already. I'd love to see what would happen if they played the womens and mens Wimbledon final on the same day, at the same time, what would the viewing % split be for each?
Women's football is one of these things that the likes of the BBC/The Guardian have been trying to force down people's throats, if you have the temerity to suggest that you find it a bit dull you're basically classed as a mere one rung below Adolf Hitler in the cu@t stakes ladder.
