Manchester in the 1960s

SWNS_HINDLEY_ARCHIVE_05.jpg

Just looking for Pics to post and found this chilling moment
Fuck me this could have been me, I lived in Laburnum Rd the street on the other side of the field and climbed the fence daily into Ryder Brow playing field
Picture taken by Ian Brady in the 60's I would have been 12 in 1965
The Ian Brady ?

I remember 80's and early 90's Manchester was a grim place, the 96 bomb was in hindsight the best thing at ever happened to it. A much nicer place now, Although many more scrotes knocking about these days

There was only one restaurant....Barnaby Rudge.
Oh and that boat moored at Pamona docks....two restaurants.

The first school I went to is in the background of the photo of the Mancunian Way. We could play football on the playground on the roof of the building. If the ball went over the wall, some unlucky bugger had to go down and bring it back up via the stairs.

Does anybody remember the Golden Egg cafe on Piccadilly Plaza, and Wimpy just around the corner.

Piccadilly gardens .....just so fucking sad what they've done, the town centre is a shithole now , like a 4th world country.
