Manchester Pubs .....fave and worst.

I'm from Cheshire and a bit to timid to go in these Manchester boozers, they sound good though.

Andy, what's the name of that one in wilmslow that is ran by a Blue and attached to a chinese or Thai restaurant?
(Nothing to do with the thread, just trying to remember the name the other day).

Marble Arch, esp. before they moved the bar down the slope to the other end of the room

Beer House used to win in terms of beer selection and good jukebox

Crescent, Salford .

I lived in Fallowfield for 18 months in 1969/70. The Friendship was my local, great pub, also used to frequent the White Lion in Withington. When we went into town we nearly always went to the Crown on Great Ducie St. It was a biker/hippy pub and had the best jukebox in town.

GDM - my mum and dad both lived just off Holland Street in the 60s before they met each other. Both grandparents lived there till their end.
My paternal grandparents used to have one shop on Queensberry Parade and my dad had another at the other end. My dad I'd guess from the mid 60's to the early 80's; my grandparents from the mid 60's to the early 90's. It became an Aldi eventually. Used to spend most of my school holidays there from the age of 8-11

The stories I could tell you about those shops, especially in relation to my dad, are both compelling and incredible, and definitely made me the streetwise posh (relatively speaking) **** I am today. I feel truly blessed to have been brought up in and around that environment.

Chilli banana moved up the road, still a Thai restaurant there though

Given its size, situation and available car parking space I'm surprised that site hasn't been developed into something a bit more sophisticated. A gastro pub for want of a better description. It's a really good pitch. iirc it's a Robinson's boozer which surprises me as they're usually quite commercial and unsentimental about their pub estate when it suits.

We're not exactly short of Gastro pubs, it's proper drinking pubs there's a lack of, that was the only pub in Wilmslow showing the final.
