What pep will do looks better tbh.
Kompany's leadership is a liifter in its own right, we should go hard at them from the start and mendy, walker would be essential for that.
Here is how I think Pep reasons it out.
Eddy is Eddy
LB: Zee can't play 2 games immediately after injury barring a flare up in his knees Mendy should start. I agree with this albeit I think we lose a bit of cohesiveness.
Mendy
RB: Kyle is back in form which is fantastic, but I think he maybe fatigued as one of the harder runners the last 2 games. Pep starts him on form, I'd go Danilo due to freshness and better attacking impetus.
Walker
CB: Pep trusts Laporte and he's the only left footers. So he starts. Pep pickd Kompany to deal with Lukaku's physicality. I appreciate the choice, but I'd have gone with John's passing as I think United will sit back and our most on the ball players will be our CBs, hence why I'd start Stones as he is a better small area passer.
Kompany/Laporte
CM: This is an issue of Freshness, Dihno and David didn't start Saturday so they are freshest. While Gundogan started, he played at DM (which is less intense than playing the 8s on our squad) So I expect him to pick this 3. It's logical as they are the 3 freshest and most experienced players- I agree with this in theory but it leaves us with a tired Frontline.
FW: Pep will go with his 3 most trusted forwards, Berny, Sterling, Aguero. Under normal circumstances, this is the right choice, but even yesterday I saw a bit of fatigue from Sterling and Aguero. Hence why i'd draft in Sane and Jesus for freshness and drop Berny into midfield. That way our best 2 players (Berny and Sterling) get to start.
But I understand The other view.
