Manchesters Finest

Fucking DISGRACEFUL how they punched the guy in the face at the start. That makes me so angry how they can do that.

i was stood outside the boozer at the bottom of piccadilly (which name escapes me) and a group of there fans walked past, i'm presuming it was the same group, similar in size anyway.

they were goading and trying to have a nibble at the 30 or so city fans outside the pub. well they were til a few dozen chairs got slung in there direction anyway.

so i dont think they were angels by any stretch

Give over - most of the police with batons out were WPc's. The police do over react, but I very much doubt that the Kraut mob were just minding their own business and walking peacefully to the game. In general, and we'll hopefully be experiencing it next year, mainland european police are more aggressive than ours - try the Italians, Greeks or Turks (although I do take the point that in Hamburg, the police were fine, but then again I didn't walk to the ground with a 100 strong mob of City fans). If you walk to the ground mobbed up, you always run the risk of a run in with the police - fact of life.

On the walk from the S-Bahn station to the stadium in Hamburg the police were stationed all along the route and the two sets of fans weren't separated. This is a far better tactic IMO than corraling all the away fans together and then marching them to the ground with a large police escort as often happens over here, which just intensifies the "mob" feeling.

Agreed. The way the Germans police matches has got to be the best in the world. I ain't seen anything better, I wish GMP would follow their tactics.

At our two games in Europe last year, the police were out in full force, dressed like they were ready to dispose of bombs. Laughing and joking with us, and just stood on the edges keeping their distance. In Hamburg there was a bit of trouble, they came in with in 10 seconds, sorted it and left.

Even when guys were staggering about wasted they were laughing at them. They did have to intervene with one lad as his sons couldn't carry him, so they just went over and carried him into the police van, probably just left him in there to sober up, still laughing about it. Even when I was break-dancing on the concourse (I hasten to add, not in a good way, it was more me on my way asking my mate to spin me round) they started throwing coins at me!

German police were fantastic.

If it's the Brunswick, it's the group I was walking along with. Doing nothing more than chanting, a few came out ofvthe pub so they stood there chanting.

Chairs came flying and the police came flying in.

The Germans were doing nowt worse than singing songs supporting their team.

as far as I can remember Hamburg fans kind of took over the pub at the top of Market street. They were no more trouble than our shabmbels lot. then the GMP started to move them all up to the ground with escort.

I never saw no kick off and IMO Hamburg fans gave us the best night we have ever had at eastlands.

GMP are wankers

Sorry you have lost me there

They were walking past the pub, some people came outside the singing songs at them, they stopped and sang a few songs back and then some brain surgeon(s) decided it would be a good idea to throw chairs at the Germans.
