I like Pirlo. Very good player, Loads better than Barry but has no experience in the Premier League. It's a big gamble in my eyes. I'd rather we got someone younger who IS better than Barry or has the potential to be better than Barry. 5Yrs ago definitely but now, no thanks.

I think Pirlo WAS great a few years ago, (and has always struck me as being very classy) but is now, as many other ageing Italians, living on their past achievements and not what the are capable of doing today.

Hasn't he been injured a lot lately as well?

Sure, I can see how it would be a good signing if we got him for free and he knew he would come here to play in a Pat Vieira role, a few subs here and there, mentoring a few of the younger kids. But he is not what would make us a top three team, not any more.

Perfect signing? The guy couldn't cope with the Premier league speed at his age anymore. It's pointless.
