What wrong with saying that, the future of the academy will hopefully shape the future of the team and the way the club runs.

Just now our academy graduates haven't seen much game time but maybe he just doesn't think they are good enough. They are no longer youth players. For a start he has given them hope. Did you forget Mancini throwing Boyata straight into it? Nimley came on at Burnley, he can only give players a go if there good enough.

Im afraid you just seem to be looking for a negative in a positive comment.

Yes, Mancini gave 4 youth player debut.
But how many times have they played in important situation?

Nimely - ONLY 8min against Burnley
Ibrahim -ONLY 5min against Liverpool
Cunningham -ONLY 1min against Birmingham

Boyata - yes~ He played some important games when Mancini didn't have any other choices. But after the other defenders returned, he hasn't played a game.

Mancini has given our youngsters hope doesn't realise we've lost our best players.
You really should check your figures before you write this type of crap, you seem to be missing the FA Cup and before you say ohhhh it's only the FA-Cup, in the 30 years I have been watching City more City sides would have gone out at Scunthorpe than thru. Ibrahim's only 5mins was actually 15 and you left off that Cunningham also played against West Ham.
As for Boyata...... "he had no choice" mmmmmm really???? most of the games he played in Onuoha was on the bench(including both SF games).

WTF! OP, how on earth can you see this as a negative?

SPOT ON MATE!!!

What some aren't able to work out here is LONG gone are the days of City scraping around looking for affordable (maybe) talent and then hoping to shape them into the next premiership star, nowadays we are going out and buying the very TOP youth players......So it's inevitable that we will have MORE success with our youth as the grade has just gone up and Mancini knows that and is very publically encouraging and his young superstars and hopefully in the process turning the heads of those kids that we haven't yet signed up to the City's academy. It's kinda running along with the public stories of how OUR training ground will be the envy of the world, it's nothing more than City saying "Hey world.....City are back and we are progressing fast, join us"

It's TRANSFER time and our managers is just playing his role in attracting the next Messi, Kaka and Lee Bradbury......Ok perhaps not Lee, but you get my gist.

erm, Hi, excuse me?

Here is the situation.

Do you want City to be a top 10 team, or a top 5 team?

If you want us to play all the academy lads, then top 10 beckons, if you want us to play our best players, then top 5 beckons. Simple.

I'd love us to win the league with 11 academy grads, but the simple point is, they aren't good enough to do this. We are NOT Barcelona.

I know Nedum is a blue, and it'd be great if he could stay at the heart of our defence for his whole career, but he is only the same as every other blue that posts on this message board. ie, not good enough for where City are going. You don't hear us complaining and moaning that Bob isn't picking us week in week out do you? And yes, the few games he played towards the end of the season he was top, but as soon as Zabba was available again, he was right back to the bench. This is obviously as Bob sees Zabba as the better player, and to be fair to Bob, he is the one with the Manager's job, not some people thinking they know it all on a messageboard.

Boyata is the only one with any real match time and as soon as the main first teamers have been fit he hasn't had a look in.Ned might have been on the bench for a couple of the Boyata games but he was returning from injury.

As for the myth that only RM has has young players training with the full squad that's what it is a myth. MH had plenty of them working with the first team and that included Trippier who virtually never has with RM.

It would be lovely to have a team full of academy players but unfortunately, imo, there are none who deserve a regular starting place at the moment and with one or two buys in the summer they will definitely not be first choice. Plenty of them are good and are valuable squad players but if we are going to genuinely challenge for the title (I assume that's where we want to be) then they are not going to be first choice. If they are not prepared to be squad players then they will leave, unfortunately. It is a shame as they will probably get a reasonable number of games now we are in Europe but if they want to be automatic first team picks then they will need to move. Mancini might want to make use of the academy if possible and that's probably why he said that the academy is important but ultimately, if he picked the first team on anything other than merit, he wouldn't be doing his job properly.

Ned played 90mins between the 2 SFs so was fit enough for that(and even scored). As for Hughes and working with our youth setup if you think he did a good job, go right ahead.

From the OS: Spells away and injury mean Trippier feels he has some catching up to do in regard to impressing Roberto Mancini, but he’s hoping to catch his eye during pre-season.
