Mancini: Carlos has told me he wants to stay

But he waved goodbye to us after the game? :S

Here's a good idea, Charity Shield August 2011, we'll just see who's in our starting XI.

Guardian jorno just tweeted:

Issue seems to be this: Tevez camp realising there may be no takers for a player with a £50m fee and £250k weekly salary

I think that's the reality of this saga and why he will stay.

He's good as gone imo.

Don't think this interview means anything at all. Bobby said Robinho would stay the day before he went on loan to Santos. Bobby looked uncomfortable with the questions.

Tevez has already started blaming non-footballing reasons for his departure. Of course he will keep saying he wants to stay. He'd look a twat of he did any different.

I'd love him to stay, but the minute he starts blaming non-footballing reasons is the minute we need to start worrying....and he's already done that.

City will evolve and win things without him regardless. Two great goals tonight don't change that fact.

He would be nice to have going forward and I wouldn't mind if he stayed (what ever happened to that one lad who said he would never see another City game again with Tevez playing? He miss the cup final?).

This is strange.

Forgive me for casting a bit of doubt on such an amazing statement, but yesterday, Tevez was quoted as saying "I'm going to have to clear my head" about his future at City. Now Mancini comes out less than 48 hours later and tells us he's staying. Something doesn't quite add up. Did Tevez really make up his mind in such a short space of time? Has his partner realised that he has trophies to win over here? Maybe it was the free-kick tonight that did it for him. I'm not too sure. I still reckon he's undecided.

maybe the media have picked up older quotes from Carlos or kept the interview for a week or 2 to try and post something a bit negative after our cup win?

Really hoping he stays, a player like him would be very hard to replace. It's a bit of a weird one really though, one minute he's leaving the next he's staying and so on.

As great as he is on the pitch the man is an uter **** off it, publically slag terry off then get caught bonking a teenager behind your wifes back.
Thats the only reason wht his ex wife and his daugthers arent in manchester. So forgetting the bollocks and PR its a simple question of whether 70-100k a week more than anyone else would pay compensates for all the travelling. Although to be fair if his ex would move to spain/italy he could see them every non match day and still only work 6/7 hrs incl private jet style travel for 20k a week.
I'ld say if he stays it will be because kia has realised we wont have the piss taken and simply no club can match the fee and wages.

Looks positive to me.

He's happy with his football, but needs to be with his kids. I get that.

I am hoping something can be worked out to allow him to be happy.

He's a truly great player. It's a little frustrating at times to see some negative comment about Tevez's play on here. he is World Class and very difficult to replace. Anyone who says anything else should watch a replay of tonight's goals

If we had been able to rest him a bit in February and March when he burned out a bit, I think we would have been close to winning the League

You also have to remember there was the WC last summer, so he had nothing of a break to spend time with his family. Unfortunately, Copa America is this summer so he will likely be without much of a break again. The good news though is that it is in Argentina.

I'm afraid i'm gonna take a bit more convincing ...

if Tevez wants to see more of his family , and they don't want to live here , something has to give ..... if Tevez really wants to stay he needs to come out and say it , so as we can all hear him!

I reckon Mancini is going on the sentiment going around the dressing room and the club from this quote - "The feeling for him is good. Nowhere else can he find behaviour that all people have for him." BBC.

It seems to be swaying Tevez towards staying. Now it's up to us, the fans, to try and convince him.

BTW brilliant gesture to Shauny to offer him the free kick when he's chasing the Golden Boot (and nice to see Yaya joining in). Not only a genius but a gentleman Carlos. We love you.

Great to hear, i was worried when he got substituted, looked like a goodbye wave. Really hope this is true!

Yeah I thought it looked like a goodbye wave too and don't mind saying had a tear in my eye
End of the season. Saying goodbye. I genuinely think hasn't made up his mind. Unless someone big comes in for him he's not going to move anyway. I think he will stay but it maybe just for a year until either his personal situation gets sorted or until a suitable offer from a suitable Spanish or Italian club comes in

100% agree, amazing player. genuine world class.

Yesterday, teletext reported that Tevez said he doesn't know why people are saying he wants to go because he hasn't told anyone that he does. Big, fat improve contract talks ahead I bet. I'd worry if RM came in for him but I don't think you'll see him playing his football in Italy next season.

Fuck off Mourinio.

Guardian hit the nail on the head for me,

The feeling behind the scenes at Eastlands is that the 27-year-old Argentinian has gradually come round to realising that there may not be any potential buyers for a player who would cost in the region of £50m and currently earns in excess of £250,000 a week. Tevez has been linked with Internazionale, Real Madrid and Chelsea, but the cost implications may be too much even for three clubs of that financial muscle.

I think we will get another season out of him.
