These are some notes from the interview that Mancini gave today to Italian news papers Gazzetta by Tancredi Palmieri...

@tancredipalmeri: Mancini on Champions League 2013:"I think everything is already done, cause if you look at Barcelona they are really from outer space"

@tancredipalmeri: Last,Mancini on Conte(glad he says exactly what I say):"It's like Lippi's Juve'95.But that he's good u could say it already in Bari n Siena"

Never say never! The only alternative could be that Mario makes the usual suspects squrm and others eat their words.

What does "know his stuff" mean? Is this the same guy who predicted the rags would be lucky to finish top 4 last season?

He seems like a nice guy who has got a couple of contacts but for gods sake it's still just an opinion. Think of the gossip that goes on in any organisation how much of it is fact? So Mancini might not be Mr Nice behind the scenes so what? Whether he is a good Manager still boils down to opinion and quite clearly not fact.

All this I know who people are in real life stuff is irrelevant unless they have significant influence on decision making at the top level and given some of the smugness you would think they had.

mancini IS a good manager, he may not be the best, he may even drop a clanger now and again but he's a great manager.
that can't be disputed
it also doesn't change the fact that jose or say pep could better him. all that has nothing to do with my intervention to the thread.
people were saying that TH was know fuck all, not true.
they also implied balo still has total support of mancini, again not true.

He's entitled to his opinion like anybody else.....what he "knows" is not as clear.

It's just getting stupid now. DD back on page 6 suggests Mancini only talks to Mansour once a year and this observation is based on, wait for it....body language. As opposed to our Chairman's actual statement to the contrary.

I just think the Mancini out posters should move away from suggesting that they know something behind the scenes that makes their opinion more relevant. It's no wonder people are at each other's throats over who knows what.

I think Bob is an extremely good manager but there are a handful of managers better. I don't know anything for sure and neither does anyone else.

i'd take DD with a pinch of salt, i'm not sure he believes what he posts himself.

Difficult to argue with that tbh.

Happy New Year, DD.
And you GDM.

One of the very few good posters who hasn't wised up to saint bob yet ;-)

And 'Saint Bob' it is - like it or not the supporters love the man and believe in him.
On a consensus basis, he's the man who does and will do it for us.

I back the crowd on this one and I'll explain why; There's a scientific experiment that proves the benefit of group intelligence - it's based on a 'guess the weight of a cake' competition and it simply asks 1000 people to guess the weight of the cake to the nearest 1 tenth of a gram.
Some people guess very close and some are wildly inaccurate but by adding the combined guessed weight and dividing it by the number of guessers you invariably get a result that is uncannily accurate.
So, on that basis, # Mancini forever - #Mancini out = Mancini forever by a resounding majority
Mancini is the only manager in Europe to have his name sung by the loyal crowd at every game and I believe that the combined 'consensus' opinion expressed by the Blues is more accurate that the individual opinions from either extreme.

How did a pro balo thread turn into a anti balo thread turn into a anti mancini thread????? and by the way the poster is correct, Mancini is the only Manager to have his name sung by the fans!

Just catching up on this thread. Another handy guide to Bluemoon's biggest bellends.

"I've got a question - why won't you answer my question - WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER MY QUESTION."

FPMSL. And whilst most of the rest of the world was bringing in the new year with their loved ones.

You shouldn't pay too much credence to public pronouncements in the world of football. People tend to say what they think people want to hear or that meet their own agendas. Anyone who thinks that because it's in a newspaper as part of an interview it must therefore be the unaduterated truth, are somewhat naive.

For the first time in many years we know where we want to be as a club. Getting to 40 points by March and a mid-table finish is no longer the limit of our ambitions. We are now expected to win or seriously challenge for honours both domestically and in Europe. This is the standard set for a City manager these days.

It soesn't bother me that Mancini makes mistakes because all managers, even the very best, also make mistakes. The only question is can he deliver on the owner's expectations? Domestically yes he can and has. But there are huge question marks over his ability to do so in Europe. Last season you could say we were a bit unlucky to go out with 10 points in our first campaign but there is no such excuse for this season, against sides that spent considerably less than we have. At best he'll only get one more chance but if someone we feel can do better is available then we'd be mad not to think seriously about it.

All managers have their limits. KK got us out of the Championship but couldn't get us the top 6 it looked like we might achieve. Hughes might have got us top 4 but no better than that. The argument about stability is over-done. It's only valid if you've got the right person and we know enough about Mancini to suggest that while he's a very good manager, he might not be the right person. After Baconface, the two longest serving managers are Wenger and Moyes. And what have they won recently?
