mancini IS a good manager, he may not be the best, he may even drop a clanger now and again but he's a great manager.
that can't be disputed
it also doesn't change the fact that jose or say pep could better him. all that has nothing to do with my intervention to the thread.
people were saying that TH was know fuck all, not true.
they also implied balo still has total support of mancini, again not true.

He's entitled to his opinion like anybody else.....what he "knows" is not as clear.

It's just getting stupid now. DD back on page 6 suggests Mancini only talks to Mansour once a year and this observation is based on, wait for it....body language. As opposed to our Chairman's actual statement to the contrary.

I just think the Mancini out posters should move away from suggesting that they know something behind the scenes that makes their opinion more relevant. It's no wonder people are at each other's throats over who knows what.

I think Bob is an extremely good manager but there are a handful of managers better. I don't know anything for sure and neither does anyone else.

i'd take DD with a pinch of salt, i'm not sure he believes what he posts himself.

Spot on! He has painted himself into a corner and can't get out

You shouldn't pay too much credence to public pronouncements in the world of football. People tend to say what they think people want to hear or that meet their own agendas. Anyone who thinks that because it's in a newspaper as part of an interview it must therefore be the unaduterated truth, are somewhat naive.

For the first time in many years we know where we want to be as a club. Getting to 40 points by March and a mid-table finish is no longer the limit of our ambitions. We are now expected to win or seriously challenge for honours both domestically and in Europe. This is the standard set for a City manager these days.

It soesn't bother me that Mancini makes mistakes because all managers, even the very best, also make mistakes. The only question is can he deliver on the owner's expectations? Domestically yes he can and has. But there are huge question marks over his ability to do so in Europe. Last season you could say we were a bit unlucky to go out with 10 points in our first campaign but there is no such excuse for this season, against sides that spent considerably less than we have. At best he'll only get one more chance but if someone we feel can do better is available then we'd be mad not to think seriously about it.

All managers have their limits. KK got us out of the Championship but couldn't get us the top 6 it looked like we might achieve. Hughes might have got us top 4 but no better than that. The argument about stability is over-done. It's only valid if you've got the right person and we know enough about Mancini to suggest that while he's a very good manager, he might not be the right person. After Baconface, the two longest serving managers are Wenger and Moyes. And what have they won recently?

That just about sums it up for me.

I'm not overly convinced about Pep due to his only having managed Barca but obviously our top brass have a far better idea about his qualities so I'll trust them on this one.

When 2 managers of the ilk of Pep and Jose are available for the coming season then it's bound to be a consideration as to whether either of them could do an improved job than Bob.

It confuses many of us
Because many of the football-savvy people on the forum and beyond see his weaknesses and don't see him as having the strengths required to take the club further forward. I cant speak for Tolmie but to me Mancini's been a fucking disaster all season.

Why is that confusing?

It's worth pointing out that many "football-savvy people on this forum", as you put it, also don't think Mancini has been quite the disaster you claim. To suggest otherwise is condescending and arrogant. Personally, I agree he has undoubtedly got things wrong, this season in particular, but you and others purposefully play down his achievements and exaggerate his faults. That's not taking a rational and considered approach to his tenureship. You should at least be balanced in your appraisal.
I'm perfectly happy with my opinion of Mancini actually, and I'm quite comfortable that's it's based on all the facts as I perceive them. I dont have an opinion for the sake of it, i have it because i believe it from the bottom of my heart. You can have your opinion and I'll have mine. I won't tell you that I think yours is 24 carot fence sitting and you don't tell me that mine's not balanced. Deal?

FPMSL. And whilst most of the rest of the world was bringing in the new year with their loved ones.
That bit raised a smile in me as we'll when i read it this morning. Imagining some kid in his bedroom at 11.00pm on New Year's Eve going ' I've got em! Look, no reply! Got 'em'.

Lot of common sense in this post. Sometimes you just have to remove the blue tinteds and look at things objectively.

Really can't understand the vitriol that both Dave and Billy face on here.

At least they are consistent in their views and if they both feel that they don't particularly rate Bob as being a managerial great then surely they are allowed to have that opinion.

Doesn't make them any less blue, imo.

Y'know what - with respect - you should probably give your hypocrisy a rest too. This thread and others like it are full of arrogant loudmouthed gobshites who spend half their lives trolling around after me and DD spoiling for a fight. Yet if we dare to comment back we're arrogant.

Yeah right ... now that's fucking funny.

It's not what is being said but how sometimes.
