I am intrigued about the emphasising of the word 'especially' when it concerns information that comes out about Marwood. I'm not sure where you stand on his merits, and you would be misguided if you hankered a belief that I was another one of his 'snouts'. I simply try and get across what I am lead to believe, that Marwood was and is a highly-valued member of the club, is appreciated to the fullest by Khaldoon and our owner, and if was such a bastard, would not be entrusted with the biggest investment in youth facilities the game will ever see. He was the brake to Mancini, the conduit to Khaldoon and Abu Dhabi, as was Cook, Mancini fell out with both of them because, and this is where I agree with Mancini, last summer was the moment to add the jewels to the Premier League crown.
Agreed! And this is why Mancini pubicly had a go at Marwood for his failure to land RVP & Hazard. Mancini realised how close we came to losing the title race to ManUre and wanted to put clear sky blue water between us and them. Marwood has no form for player recruitment and fucked it up! Simples......
If you think that Marwood is a highly valued member of the club, how do you view his 'move' to academy head? Do you see it as a step up, a sidewards move or a step down?
For me it is obviously a demotion in all but name because most people support a club for what the first team do, not for the results the reserves get! By your reasoning, if City were to acquire Mourinho or Guardiola, we would install either of them as academy head coach because it's
'the biggest investment in youth facilities the game will ever see'!
If you believe that Marwood's demotion to the academy isn't a sign of what our owners think of his transfer performance last summer, then you're just plainly deluded mate......
So no wonder there was an early season malaise around the place. If I was Mancini, I'd be pissed and demotivated that opportunities like this were fucked up by the ineptitude of Marwood. Mancini predicted that we'd struggle in Europe and that we'd be lucky to retain our title especially as the two main transfer targets that we had identified went on to strengthen our two closest rivals.
Yes, Mancini has made errors this season for which he's apologised, but you're being a bit too quick to criticise him for the fact that our squad may have more depth but the quality hasn't improved. This wasn't for the want of Mancini not trying, this was plainly down to your buddy Marwood and if the reports are correct Arsenal are welcome to him!!!
