Mancini' interview to Gazzetta about Mario, Mansour,United

Christ, man. I am guessing this job you are very good at doesn't involve too much report writing ......

As promised, I'll try to answer some of your points, questions. I don't ask anything of any poster on here, aside from a degree of civility. Albeit, that even seems to be a stretch for some.

Et cetera, et cetera ....

I am intrigued about the emphasising of the word 'especially' when it concerns information that comes out about Marwood. I'm not sure where you stand on his merits, and you would be misguided if you hankered a belief that I was another one of his 'snouts'. I simply try and get across what I am lead to believe, that Marwood was and is a highly-valued member of the club, is appreciated to the fullest by Khaldoon and our owner, and if was such a bastard, would not be entrusted with the biggest investment in youth facilities the game will ever see. He was the brake to Mancini, the conduit to Khaldoon and Abu Dhabi, as was Cook, Mancini fell out with both of them because, and this is where I agree with Mancini, last summer was the moment to add the jewels to the Premier League crown.

Agreed! And this is why Mancini pubicly had a go at Marwood for his failure to land RVP & Hazard. Mancini realised how close we came to losing the title race to ManUre and wanted to put clear sky blue water between us and them. Marwood has no form for player recruitment and fucked it up! Simples......

If you think that Marwood is a highly valued member of the club, how do you view his 'move' to academy head? Do you see it as a step up, a sidewards move or a step down?

For me it is obviously a demotion in all but name because most people support a club for what the first team do, not for the results the reserves get! By your reasoning, if City were to acquire Mourinho or Guardiola, we would install either of them as academy head coach because it's 'the biggest investment in youth facilities the game will ever see'!

If you believe that Marwood's demotion to the academy isn't a sign of what our owners think of his transfer performance last summer, then you're just plainly deluded mate......

So no wonder there was an early season malaise around the place. If I was Mancini, I'd be pissed and demotivated that opportunities like this were fucked up by the ineptitude of Marwood. Mancini predicted that we'd struggle in Europe and that we'd be lucky to retain our title especially as the two main transfer targets that we had identified went on to strengthen our two closest rivals.

Yes, Mancini has made errors this season for which he's apologised, but you're being a bit too quick to criticise him for the fact that our squad may have more depth but the quality hasn't improved. This wasn't for the want of Mancini trying, this was plainly down to your buddy Marwood and if the reports are correct Arsenal are welcome to him!!!

Because of how much emphasis the club are seemingly putting into the academy and campus, I would see it as a promotion for Marwood.

Why not just sack him, unless the powers-that-be felt he still retained some core value, that would be my take?

You have me at a disadvantage, only because I don't recall Bobby saying we were going to struggle in Europe and be lucky to retain our title?

Marwood always struck me as a bit of a spare part in some regards once Cook, who was seemingly responsible for bringing him to the club, was forced to step down.

There was definitely a void of some degree, but how big in terms of Marwood's ability to fulfill his remit, not so sure he warrants all the blame.

As I said, if anyone who played a part with the first team was asked to move to academy duties, in my book that is a clear demotion.

Mancini did say that we would struggle this season and that we should have got the players he wanted in as soon as the season ended and not to be seen scrabbling about at the close of the transfer window for whoever is left.

Mancini made his intentions quite clear immediately after the season ended, but for whatever reason, the players who we were hot favourites to sign ended up going elsewhere. I said this at the beginning of the season and I'll stand by it now; I'll be amazed if Marwood is still here come the beginning of next season.

Why not just sack Marwood you ask? IMHO our owners would rather he be shunted to the sidelines whilst the new academy is being built and he can't fuck anything else up and he slip away quitely come the end of the season. Sacking him would benefit no-one and only give the press ammunition to print headlines like 'Marwood sacked because ManUre got RVP' etc, this way he'll just move on to Arsenal to 'further' his career with no backlash against our owners. The media have only just shut up about Hughes since his sacking from QPR.
