I was on the newsdesk at a local radio station today and Mancini said that, it was a piece of audio I used in at least two of my bulletins: "I didn't give Scott enough chances to play and not for his fault, but for my fault."
Fair play, I didn't know that. I lie on my setee corrected.
But Mancini also said "It's my fault, I didn't prepare the team well enough" last year after Everton beat us, and "It is over" many, many times as the season drew to a close didn't he. He could possibly be deflecting the pressure away from a player/the players and directing it towards himself, which is a decent(-ish) management strategy in my books.
And to be fair, he's not going to come out and say "the lad's shit, did you see his shooting practice on the OS the other week? Man, if you'd seen it you'd get an idea as to why I haven't played him. He's shocking. Oh, anybody fancy signing him for 10 million quid? He trains well." now is he.
(have I backtracked enough yet? :) )
Haha, no need to backtrack, mate - the line's not in the story. I was just showing that sometimes the papers will paraphrase for the headline and use other quotes for the body. :)
