Mancini or Pep era?

The Mancini era was special because it was the start of the current success. He won the first trophy I'd ever witnessed as a City fan and no-one can take that from him - there's no trophy win that will ever compare to 2011 or 2012. I started going to most of the away games under his tenure and have great memories - it's quite nostalgic looking back.

But come on, the Pep era is on another level. God help the person who's in charge after Guardiola. Tough act to follow.

Prefer Mancini's personality he would go to war with the likes of baconface he had no fear , but Pep's results speak for themselves in comparison he is Mr.Niceguy blowing smoke up the oppostions arse and then beating them to a pulp on the field , an unassuming genius .

This post could win a fiction writing contest.

Mancini FAILED to heed the CLEAR warning from management that he had already spent a ridiculous amount of money on transfer fees and wages and that with FFP coming up he had to GET SMART in the transfer window.

NOT turn up with a list with two players looking for MASSIVE final paydays in Van Persie and De Rossi, then throw your toys out of the pram when the powers that be say that your list is ridiculous and completely out of touch with the reality of what needs to happen.

I love what Mancini did in 10/11 and 11/12. But let's not rewrite history.
Ha like moth to a flame and dave

My best memories of watching City may well be the 10-11 season culminating in the Cup win. (The next year was too stressful ha ha.)

Mancini and his attitude personified that time as we were the scrappy upstarts starting to tilt the red-nosed Ogre off his perch.

But the 12-13 season was my most miserable time watching us. Probably eclipsing the depths of Pearce due to how optimistic things had been the May before. The dysfunction shot through every level of the club was palpable.

Beyond that, the recent draw with Dortmund reminded me of how abysmal and amateurish we looked in the CL against them in '12.

I cannot imagine anything like 12-13 occurring under Pep. So the highs are higher. The lows probably will never approach what they were.

No contest. Not even a question really.

In 2012 2013 we were cheered by the cup run, do not blame Mancini for the players letting him and us down in the final. By the way the media treat that upset you'd never believe Wigan were Premier League at the time.

My head says Pep but my heart says Bobby Manc.

Pep is obviously the better manager and we’re obviously a better team now, but Mancini transformed the whole attitude of the club and restored some pride. Plus he gave old bacon face a thorough fucking.

Mancini will always be special because there will never be a moment that will have the same emotional release as what happened in that QPR game. That felt to me like a natural ending to a decades long to journey and to have the end of that journey then condense all of the emotions I’d felt over thirty years into ninety minutes was just ridiculous. As incredible as that was though, I never want to feel that level of emotion again as I don’t think I could take it! The season after, the less said the better.

The pep era, it’s less about those moments but more just a constant state of wonder at the beauty of the football we play and I just feel privileged every single game to watch it.

Id have loved to have seen Pep manage the team Mancini had in that title winning season. That really was a ridiculously strong squad that if we look back objectively, probably should have won the title by a long way. Ultimately though, I’m glad we didn’t - it gave us the greatest emotionally moment I think I’ll ever experience (sorry kids!)

Under Mancini we were excellent but still full of mistakes and poor performances. We relied on certain players in order to perform. He was brilliant. Brought the fans together, stuck it to the rags and got us our first trophy in decades and gave us the greatest moment. Last minute winners, to steal it back from our rivals... you just couldn't write a moment like that.

Pep is just a different class though. We now perform to the same exceptional standards regardless of personnel more often than not. He's spent a fortune of course, but so did Mancini. He's just bought better generally and the board have been a lot smarter too. Let's not forget that. April on paper is a ridiculous month, what blue would have ever expected that. That shows the increase in standards again from Mancini's days.

We have the potential to seal the league in April. To win the league cup. To make it to the FA Cup final and to be in, and play the first leg of the CL semi-finals. By the end of April we could have one trophy in the bag, the title near enough secured, an FA Cup final to look forward to and one foot in the CL final. Or... we could have blown it all. But only Pep gets you to a position where you have that opportunity for unprecedented success.
