Mancini post match interview

voice is hoarse from yelling so much. We have an immature team and it shows on the pitch and on the sidelines.

"was a lesson for me", back to defensive again :D

I think that if these performances have convinced Mancini to go defensive again in some games instead of passing around the box with no goals, it will benefit us in the long term. We can still play the tippy tappy football against weaker teams but against stronger teams who can defend it is better to sit back and play on the counter as we have done many a time last season. Seeing United's and Arsenal's defence i dont think we will have any worry in playing our attacking brand of football. But against teams like Bayern, Madrid etc it may be better to play a bit defensive.

with only 3 strikers now I think we will see more 1-striker formations. We can still accommodate Silva, Nasri, and Aguero with more strength in central midfield if we play with a fluid front 3.

He was furious when he was on the bench, he was about to jump up but Brian Kidd stopped him. I don't know if it was to sort Dzeko out or Tevez.

That looked like Dzeko, he seemed really pissed off with him in the interview also. He has been poor lately so cant understand whats his problem tonight,

But that wont prevent us from getting overrun in midfield like today. I think we need some pace and urgency in midfield and with that in mind a fast winger has to purchased in January. I love Barry and Yaya but we will need players of a bit more quality for this stage. ( I know Toure is quality but his recent performances leaves a lot to be desired). When faced against real quality in midfield, these two arent sufficient. That said i am glad DeJong has come back. Also, Kolarov played well again today imo, i think he could start in midfield if not as a full back in future european games.

-- Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:38 am --

Also i have been feeling over the past few games that we tend to switch off when going a goal down. This has to change immediatly. The only times i have seen us looking comfotable is when we have gone up front first

Funny how fickle football is and how Super Mario will lead the lines against Blackburn.

I have always said if you are to have success in the Chumps League and the Premiership you need four quality strikers and I still stick by that.

You do need to manage them well and if they have some big egos to boot you have to know how to keep them in check and gain maximum advantage in your use of all four.

Now it appears we are down to three with Dzeko on notice.

I am not a big fan of a manager stating in public his anger at players in such a fashion and I have no doubt Mancini could have handled that much better and hopefully will learn from it.

I don't pay much attention to players spitting the dummy when they come off , it happens every weekend and to many a player and if it needs to be dealt with at all it should be dealt with after the match in the confines of the dressing room etc away from the prying media etc.

Football is an emotional game and its natural that players and managers alike will vent their frustration throughout the 90 minutes.

As for Tevez only he knows why he decided not to take to the pitch.

I have heard it has been reported he was not mentally and physically ready to play any part so if that was the case he should not have been picked for the bench in the first place and should have conveyed that to RM before the side was picked.

As for the game we were outplayed for the majority of it , rarely created any threatening going forward and defended like schoolboys on a few occasions in the first half.

In the second half we lost all interest in doing the team and club proud both on and off the pitch.

Put it down to a bad day at the office and move on.

Its a pity the Tevez situation has not been able to have been handled better for all concerned.

Its a lose , lose situation no matter which side you take.

Lets hope the players we are left with realise what is required to be part of a successful club.

We have the talent , but talent doesn't give you team spirit , team cohesion , a will to win and a never say die approach to want to help your teammate get the job done.

Does anyone have the interview with Platt? Would be glad if there was a youtube version as os videos arent working for me currently

Good to see bobby hurting as much as us about this game

He wants to succeed as a manager of a club challenging for big trophies.

If he didn't I wouldn't want him at the helm.

In saying that I think he would have been far better to keep comments about Tevez's future or lack of it and comments about Dzeko to himself and dealt with those issues behind closed doors.

We don't need to give the media a feeding frenzy on us anymore than the performance on the pitch did.

I'm glad he did it. By commenting on this, I think Mancini is putting ALL of his players on notice. If Dzeko didn't want to be chastized in public, he shouldn't have had his tantrum in public. I am more disappointed in him than Tevez. Dzeko is class. Tevez isn't, but I learned that long ago. If Roberto was harsher on Dzeko, it's b/c he still cares about him. Tevez is long gone.

Media frenzy was always going to happen b/c of the result. This is the 1st time as a City fan that I am glad I live in the States.
