Mancini Press Conference

He's increasingly becoming like a spoilt fucking child if you ask me. He's the most privileged manager in world football and half the time he acts like he's carrying a poison fucking chalice .

I sometimes think he plays on Abu dhabis, and cooks, lack of football experience.

Nothing wrong in wanting the tools for the job when keeping the job depends on it.

Agreed.

As for the most priviliged manager , I reckon this fella is.

I just fear the day might come when Mancini gets pissed off with the board and leaves.

If so, he'd surely struggle to get a comparable job?

What's he going to say "City's Board were unreasonable. They only let me sign Toure, Silva, Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero, Milner, Boateng, Johnson, Kolarov, Clichy, Savic, Nasri(?) etc"

There are certain pressures that go with managing City, but if he gets pissed off with our Board and leaves, he's unlikely to get much sympathy elsewhere.

In his defence, he will most likely be sacked if he doesn't win the league this year.

What you hear isn't a spoiled manager, he's a desperate manager. This season is probably the most important of his career. It's his second top-flight club after having been sacked at the first. If he wins the league he will likely have all the control he desires and two years worth of breathing room; a loss will mean he's back in Italy looking for a job at a 3rd-6th place club.
Can't argue with that.

But one of the reasons his neck is on the line and the pressure on is that he is such a combatative character, he pisses off and alienates so many people that he has absolutely no slack with Abu dhabi.

It's such a crying shame that the negativity and worry has crept in. We ended last season on a real buzz. The players were happy, the fans were happy, the manager was happy - everyone involved with City was happy. Happy and bouncing, with masses of energy. If we'd been able to start the new season without a summer break, we'd have already been streets ahead of the rest. We felt almost invincible, which is quite a new concept for us!

I worried for the result of the Charity Shield when I read Mancini's comments about us being five yards behind the rags, and being one or two signings away from winning the league. If the manager is bothered by something, it will affect the players, no matter what. You've only got to look at Arsenal playing well below par, when their manager is throwing his teddies out, left, right and centre.

I think Mancini can be a great manager for us, but I'm disappointed in his negative comments to the press, because of how it affects everyone else. He may have hoped for other outcomes in the transfer market, but if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Rise above it. Get things back to a shrug of the shoulders, the odd witty comment, a check of the great quality we already have at City, and just get on with the season!

Some would say that his ruthless streak is why he has been so successful? Time will tell.

When Mancini first briefed the press about his problems with Cook etc and the slowness with which transfers were progressing I had some sympathy for him. The comments about wanting control didn't come off that great as he just sounded whiny, but when it came to transfers I felt he had a right to put the pressure on.

However on the opening weekend of the season for him to again go on the attack is neither admirable nor particularly good politicking. His complaints will have been heard loud and clear last month and if AD had wanted to act on them they would have done. Furthermore there is nothing to be gained from isolating himself and his little posse from the decision makers at the club as they need to have a unified front in such an important season.

It's funny, for all the hand wringing earlier in this thread and stupid digs about vultures and agendas and negativity...it's actually Roberto bringing the conflict rather than others making it up.

Sorry but I really don't think it's even worthy of "conflict" and I've seen enough digs in this thread (not achieving the sum of the parts, Ferrari driven by old woman etc) to see this as opportunistic anti-Mancini bile from some. I'm not including you in that obviously. But some are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

There will always be conflict when the soldier who goes to the front did know that he was NOT given the weapons that they had promised. indeed, they had agreed to give him.

a good soldier is proud and ready to die cause enemy fire but maybe he can be a little pissed of if he see he risk to die under the friendly fire

mancini is only asking what was concordated.

As much as I hate whingers I feel that Mancini does have a strong case here. In the long term I cannot see how having these 2 clowns interfearing in transfer proceedings is healthy for the club. Ultimatly they have never been managers and do not understand the problems of getting players in early to bed them into the squad.

It has never has and never will sit right with me seeing Marwood at the press conferances signing players. Something has to give at some point and I hope that is Mancini that succeeds and these 2 clowns are shown the door.

He never seems satisfied.

Good.

He wants the best for our club, and we're complaining because...?

He should be in charge of transfers in and have a budget to work to. His frustration arrives from not having total control of his own destiny - everyone is agreed the club wants to bring Nasri in, before the start of pre season, then before the Champions League, then before the season starts and it has not happened - if he feels he could have driven it harder and made it happen then of course he is frustrated.

Could he have done that? We'll never know because he has people in his way doing that for him. Badly it seems in Mancini's opinion.

As he said, he is the one who will get sacked if it doesn't work. He told them what he felt he needed to make it work and they haven't delivered (yet).

Seems to be making total sense to me.
