Mancini says 'Tactics' will change.

AJ on the left Dave?

I like this:

.......................................Hart........................................

Boateng...............Kompany...........Kolo.................Kolarov

......................................DeJong.......................................

.................................................Milner
................Balotelli............................................Silva...........

.......................................Tevez.......................................

Thats a great solid spine, 2 attacking full backs who can also defend, deJong as the out and out destroyer, Milner for his drive and box to box attributes ala gerrard, Balo, Tev and Silva the dynamic 3 upfront who can swap positions when necessary. And if that doesn't work bring on SWP/Johnson to destroy out wide. Mouth watering if mancini has the balls to do it. Revert to a more narrow cautious set up away at tough grounds.

F**k, it's hard picking our best team, to think Barry, Ade, Johnson, SWP, Zabs, Lescott, Richards and Bridge aren't even in the first 11! We are spoilt and don't we love it!

SHIT - forgot Yaya! Deary me, ok, I have no idea - over to Mancini to sort it out!

AJ on the left Dave?

Until this season I would have said yes, but now I'm converted to the thinking that he's most effective coming in from the right. Fair play to the manager for that.

What I'm trying to say is if AJ was playing he'd go on the right and Silva switch.

A lot of commentators (generalise there for jounalists etc too) believe that he is defending first attacking second due to the lack of cover at the back. We are missing two full backs on each side, and he is making sure that that back 8 is a unit. Agreed, it is sometimes a back 10, sometimes too often. However, nothing lasts forever, nor will these tactics. Surely a manager who has won three league titles in whatever country would know this?

Something must be working for us to be second? Fergie made the point Chelsea had it easy with only one big game thus far (Arsenal) that discounts us who have faced Liverpool, as quoted in the same piece as a big side, Chelsea and Tottenham who were tipped to be well up there on the first day (can only beat what is put in front of you blah blah Alan Shearer blah)

In addition to this Tevez has managed to score 5 goals.

It tells you that we still can't come with some of the attacking threats that come our way. Despite Tevez excelling and scoring 5 in this system, it isn't him that is at the top of the forum is it? It's defender Vinny K.

As the squad, form and opposition change, so will the style and system. be objective not subjective. Otherwise we end up a bunch of impatient fans, never happy!

Just ten players? We're not that good, yet ;)

Back 5 speaks for itself when everyone is fit.

Its going to be interesting how he can accomodate Silva and AJ in the same side

I very much like the idea of Tevez behind the striker though

Ah, but this is just last season's 4-4-2, with Bellers on one wing, SWP/Johnson on the other and Adebayor up top. Tevez isn't a 'hole' player - this was proven last season with the big gap between midfield & attack, and the poor ball retention that resulted.

An example might be the rags home game, where Tevez really should've been on Scholes' case the whole time. He wasn't, because he's pretty goal-minded - I don't think his passing is cute enough for this role either.

That said, you spelled all the players' names correctly ;)

My dream team -

......... JH
MR...KT...VK...AK
......YYT..NDJ
..........JM
AJ.......CT......MB

Or

...YYT...NDJ...GB
........DS....CT
............EA.......

It will be hard to, no doubt. I can't see it happening often.

Tevez is definitely most effective as a deep striker for me.

I wouldn't be 100% surprised to see a return to a diamond midfield when Kolorov's fit:

.........................De Jong......................

..............Yaya......................Barry/Milner

..........................Silva...........................

.....................Balotelli.......Tevez(Dropping a bit deeper)

I think the dream attacking quartet is certainly those 4 (Tevez, Silva, AJ and Balo), but i'd have all 4 of them them in a different position to what you've put them in! I'd want Silva to be in the centre, as for me, he's the most intelligent player we have that can play 'inbetween the lines'. AJ is far more effective on the right where his skills seem to be far more unpredictable. He's also more of a goal threat from that side. I'd then have Balo playing from the left. He has great trickery just like AJ, great pace and a devastating shot. Having him cutting inside will be deadly. Plus, the beauty of AJ and Balo coming infield is that it frees up space for Kolarov and Boateng to exploit with a well-timed overlap. Our current side lacks pace, but with AJ and Balo on each flank, we'll have it in abundance. Then Tevez is a bit of everything. He'll hold it up, poach goals, defend from the front, force mistakes. He'll drop deep every now and then which isn't always ideal, but with Silva in the hole there'll be less need for him to do this, compared to our current set-up. But with hours of drills on the training ground, i'm sure AJ and Balo will recognise that when Tevez drops deep to link up with Silva, an out-to-in diagonal run into the space Tevez leaves behind will get them a potential 1-on-1 with the keeper.

I really would love to see it:

Johnson.........Silva..........Balotelli

...................Tevez...................
