Mancini..the man, the politician?

he's one of the good guys, a class act and very clever, you can't help but like him. he said last year that this season would be different on the pitch as he will have his own players in place to play the way he wants to play and i believe him.

Im surprised you can follow a word he says. I don't have the patience because he talks painfully slowly, in mumbled stacatto broken english and when you get down to it he makes the most vapid blindingly obvious statements even by a footbal managers standards. Maybe he is playing games with the reporters but im not overly enamoured with his communication skills.

All of that said we are where we want to be at the start of the real season one under the best owners in world football.

How do you make it 'the real season 1 under adug'? Hughes had a full pre season last year and all the funds needed, so it is at least real season 2 under adug. The problem is that the press and non city fans see this as adugs 3rd season at the club - and the longer we take to deliver real success the more that pressure will grow.

What impressed me more than anything with this guy was that he just came in and got on with it!
Not once did he say anything about not having the players or the squad, he just did his very best
Hughes spent most of the time whining about the state of the training, the state of the players, how he needed to change the mentality
All bollocks, he was not good enough to manage us at the time and the changes we were going through
Mancini came in and did not say one bad word about any of the players or the training facilities, mentality etc he signed one player (viera-not Johnson) and got us within a whisker of 4th
I honestly believe we would have been no where near that position under Hughes and all the players HE signed, and the fact we got right back in the race for 4th was purely down to bobby
In the end it was just too far-BUT we nearly got champions league within his first half a season! That to me is an achievement no matter how much money was spent
Especially as he probably was thinking ‘52mil on a couple of sicknotes-jeeeezus’
He will come good, think of Burnley at home and Burnley away last season-Never more irrefutable proof of the capabilities of the two managers
We came unstuck when we showed too much respect for teams (united, spurs, Everton), I think he is a quick learner and we will destroy all before us next season!

Forza Bobby Forza City!!!!!

This!!!!!

What has impressed me this pre-season is that Bobby has come out and said 'this is my team now' - he knows the heat is on now but is happy to be judged on our performances from now on.

I really think he can take us forwards to the promised land - FORZA MANCINI!!!!!!!!

I think the time that Hughes was given was possibly due to ADUG not wanting to be seen as thoughtless owners.

I honestly believe that ADUG regret the time and money invested in Hughes strategy (I know I do) - it was a phoney war with the media if you will allow me such a stretch of language.

This season should be considered as the time that ADUG will count as the real beginning, with the manager of their choice and the players of his choice being brought in.

Off the field as well the marketing/image/infrastructure that the club is presenting is more inline with what I expected (and was told to expect) from ADUG than previously.

Not sure which Mancini you were watching but he hardly "got on with it" last season. He spent ample time in the press complaining that players weren't fit enough, weren't in the right mentality, that the balance of the team was all wrong as he didn't have enough midfielders. He was involved with verbal spats in the press with Tevez, Ireland & Bellamy. Hardly getting on with it.

To his credit though, he seems to have learned from that mistake this year. I haven't seen him have a single negative comment about one of our players in the press since the pre-season began which is good. His personal feelings about players should be kept in the dressing room. I actually like his vibe when he plays coy to the media and drops meaningless plattitudes like with Donovan. Hopefully he'll stick to doing his talking on the field this year.

I guess Simon Pearce had a word with him about the UK media.

Funny how overlooked Simon is in the club hierarchy really. After all he is as well connected in Abu Dhabi as possible.
