Mancini ...what was he thinking ?

Mourinho, Wenger, or even Guardiola would never have done that. They would have left it to half time and then had a word with him. It was clear he thought he was offside.

I really don't rate Mancini. Sorry.

I really dont care whether you rate Mancini or not but according to him Balotelli knew he wasnt offside : When asked what Balotelli said to him as they exchanged words on the side of the pitch, Mancini said: "It was in Italian. In English I would find it difficult to give you the translation. But Mario is streetwise, he knows he was not offside."
It doesnt matter. A 20 year old player showboating is common. Ronaldo did it, and i never remember Ferguson taking him off.
Messi has done it, i don't think Rijkaard took him off. He could have just had a work with Balotelli instead of allowing the media to get into something which really doesnt need getting in to.

I question his man-management skills

Do they really think at all?

I think them both let the heart rule. How special.

Balotelli's play prior to this was just so cute. He combines artistic and childlike trickeries with tenacity.

It's a pity because such a beauty won't last long.

I'm glad we have such a manager. Do something wrong, and you can get the fuck off. There's no need to defend someone who doesn't deserve it.

Looking over at Baconface, its a joke really. Giggs don't deserve slag because he's a legend? Cmon, it's like saying I can rape someone and get away with it just because I have the looks.

-- Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:50 pm --

Think Roberto should've waited till half time and had a discussion with Mario to find out why he did it. A bit rash but in a way I admire his no nonsense approach.

This.

Mario seemed to think he was offside and it was a friendly.

Bobby would have been better waiting 15 minutes until half-time and spoken to Balo in the changing room before making a decision.

However, Balotelli's reaction was completely out of order and OTT. No need for it, Mario. It gave the media more ammunition.

I am very worried about balotelli and his career. Even the person that claims and supposed to shield and protect mario from the ferocious, unreasonable and rather unprecidented degree of animorsity, contempt and cynicism have shown that he is also detached and does not have the empathy to realise that taking balotelli off the way he did was absolutely terrible.
I have been and will always be a supporter of balotelli and i refuse to allow him to be a punchbag or a scapegoat for people(unfortunately some mc fans included)willing to pounce on any opportunity to attack and show their innate hatred for balotelli because they think he epitomises all that is wrong with the modern game:
Black
Black european
Black european italian!
Black european italian earning millions in his teens
Black european italian earning millions in his teens and have the potential to be a something special.
He can be something like weve never seen before.
Lets face it, this is why there is this aggressive intolerance, animorsity and a sort of uneasiness around balotelli because people and the press do not like what he represents and they ultimately want him to fail.
So the fact that he is although flawed but young and going to get matured or the fact that he has this snap, 'if you touch me,i will bite you because i have been wounded and suffered great discrimination and unfairness all my life so i must react and fight' mentality or the fact that he is grossly misunderstood as was the case today, are all irrelevant.
Mancini have shown his true colours today as he has shown that he is just like the rest
of them, detached and with NO EMPATHY , because i can bet that he would not have done this to his own son.
I fear for balotelli and i believe the only people that can realise what is really happening and protect him from this 'new discrimination' is us- his fans

I have never read a more insulting post and I'm surprised that this hasn't been pulled by the Mods.

The undercurrent of this post is that City fans yes, City fans, are racists. So are the coaching staff and (by inference) so are the players who play alongside him.

Well I'm sorry our kid, you dont know us very well do you. You don't know our club very well and you certainly dont know this forum very well..

Take this shit elsewhere.

I would go along with this both in the wrong but only one of them is the boss.

We need people that are willing and honest to acknowledge that there are strong emotions when dealing with mario that is not present with other players. he is a polarizing figure and i have made my point earlier as to why that is the case.

Concerning this particular incident:
Mario balotelli got the through ball from silva after running in behind with dzeko.
Realised/thought he was offside
Slowed down.
Gave the ball or kicked the ball back the opposition, albeit in an extravagant manner
Turned and was walking away.
Confronted by dzeko
A bit confused
Stretched his arms and was like 'what did i do'
La galaxy players walked away
The slimeball rotten barels of monkey faeces espn commentators said he was confronted by mc players
Camera didnt show it
Booed by the galaxy fans for a minute or so and then everybody went on with their lives
Mancini reacted and decided to take him off.
Mario looks bemused as he walks off the pitch
Fustrated,He confronted mancini and was like' was up with that,
I was offside, you did not have to take me off'
Mancini vaguely points towards the direction of the galaxy box
Balotelli walks off
The media vultures smelt blood and said to themselves (in vulturefolk tongue of course) ' today is our lucky day.' and the rest is in manisfestation in newsnow and other media outlets.

EMPATHY, mancini should have known the reaction from the media and others if he took him off. But as he in theliverpool game, he once again demonstrated that he is willing to throw this much maligned kid under the bus to distract the media from his mistakes or as it was in this case try and potray himself gain kudos from the inherently anti-balotelli media- the 'kiss me kiss me' attitude.
I never said mancini was racist, i only stressed the absolute fact that he has that strong negetive emotion about balotelli and that was why he was cynical
enough to automatically conclude that mario balotelli was been disrespectful and unprofessional instead of waiting at least till half time to confront mario, hence preventing this media onslaught and ultimately realising that mario ACTUALLY THOUGHT HE WAS OFFSIDE and was giving the ball back and not trying to score.

I dont think Mancini would have subbed him in a real match....there again...I dont think Balo would have done what he did in a real match either...storm in a teacup imo and just cos its Balo it gets blown all out of proportion.

Balotelli was a bit stupid but Mancini completely over-reacted and humiliated him in public. No way Baconface, the most ruthless of managers, would even do that. Hairdryer in the dressing room or let the other players deal with it would be his style. Behind closed doors.

Then there's the issue of Ned's locker being taken away. Bellamy and Adebayor being told to train with the EDS. Humiliating people publicly again. All because they were a bit arsey. If they don't figure in your plans then treat them properly and tell them so, face-to-face, like an adult.

Wants his own way with Cook & Marwood like some spoilt kid. He might get away with it for a while when we win things but if we underperform then there'll be no sympathy.

I posted this on the other thread. He leaves himself very exposed with his combatative behaviour. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

If you don't like the truth that's not my problem. The above is my considered opinion after all the hysteria has died down. I don't like flat-track bullies because it will only get you so far. You have to have more weapons than fear in your armoury and I think he probably has but he's going to piss too many people off.

do you mean the same mutual respect some of these players have shown by crying to the media?

I don't think that's right either. But two wrongs don't make a right.

All managers have a go at players during a game. That's somewhat different.

Mancini was completely right to take Balotelli off. It is showing him before the season starts that he will not hesitate to pull him off if he tries any stupid stunts that end up costing the team the chance at a goal. It was the best decision he could have made in my opinion.

But when Mancini does it during games ala Tevez,Balo its big big news...
