Personally, I'm going with Bob being told post-Newc by Khaldoon that his time at City is coming to an end. Informs him that Sheikh Mansour would like to see him face-to-face to personally thank him for the last 3 years and all he's done for the club, as chances are he won't see him face-to-face again.

Hahaha. I'd like to post a 'not sure if serious' picture.

Not sure about Soriano, but Begiristain was certainly back in Manchester, signing up Yaya you will recall.

City's statement was that 'to the best of their knowledge' Khaldoon was not in Abu Dhabi at the time.

Coincided with Khaldoon supposedly seeing Mancini last weekend in Manchester, I don't see what the trip achieves if our chairman was also not in Abu Dhabi?

Talking transfer targets with Sheikh Mansour seems a waste of his precious time?

It smacks of a professional courtesy being extended if Mancini was not on a short break.

I doubt he could take it upon himself to go out there on the strength of a chance audience.

There is another possibility to consider. City have previously done a lot of courting of big transfers targets in the region, because of the close of secrecy it sort of affords us.

I cant see an owner saying that to a manager that could win him another FA cup in a few weeks time... Funny how the mind works eh ??

As for Jose, I think that shipped sailed the moment his people contacted Begiristain a few weeks back.

I would love to retain your hope, but I don't see it.

So it looks like we could of had the best out there yet the spanish duo said no to him
Do you think it was them or khaldoun gave the thumbs down?

Begiristain and Soriano hold the power in this regard. I haven't said they have turned him down, but with something as big as that, leaks would have been out all over Europe.

Fair do's cheers tolm..

Miss Piggy's little boy just did a sex wee in his pants reading that Tolmie!

Seriously though, I think there's many twists and turns left in the whole managerial merry go round before decisions are made from any of the main parties involved.

Haha - although I agree with your last point. I know you still retain some stock in Jose's comments 'the football world will get a shock this summer'.

But Beasley's story today is still a canvassing of Chelsea. If he were in the bag for City, he would be pretty fucking stupid to be cosying up elsewhere.

I was told by someone at the start of last week that Mancini was a goner.

I have no clue if that information formed their opinion based on this supposed trip to Abu Dhabi, though.

Interestingly, Henry Winter has done a piece today where he confirmed the club are not briefing on Mancini's future, he has heard nothing, but he has urged them to so put something out there.

Don't really see that it would make much difference. Bob and the players will want the cup, Bob would be getting a decent payoff. It's no big deal.

Thing is mate, one thing is for sure. There was a big reason for Bob to shoot over to AD seeing as he'd just had a long meeting with Khaldoon post Newcastle game.

I know I'm only guessing and Tolm may be right about a transfer target. I just think it's more likely managerial related.

I think the opposite Rammy, the more I hear and read, I think he's going to get another year to show his worth in the Champs League.

Been pretty obvious the last few weeks/months with the various comments from players too that Txiki and Ferran are keeping their cards very close to their chest regarding everyone's future (playing staff and coaching staff). For that reason alone I think it doesn't bode well for Mancini.

Well without trying to sound ITK,I can confidently assure you its probably one or t'other ;)

Might, could, possibly, perhaps.

The conjecture on here masquerading as fact is bewildering.

The season isn't over, even though some of you seem to have mad your assessments 3-4 months ago, but from what Mancini has been saying it seems the club have been making ambitious plans for next season

Roberto Mancini, is aware of which departments of his squad need strengthening in the summer. "We know each position but I cannot say this," he said. "They [United] deserve to win this title but next season will be different."

This is all cheap talk of course, and its one thing having plans in place, another executing them as we found last Summer.

The most encouraging aspects are

1) City bought good players like Garcia,Rodwell and Nasty who will hit the ground running next season
2) We sold Balotelli, and have space for a striker - we don't have to sell first.
3) Utd can not be in the market for a striker next season. But maybe Chelsea will

Someone who knows more than you, or someone intimately connected with Khaldoun. Or are we talking Nicky Sumerbee levels of ITK.

My point is that at this point in the season it would be strange to have sacked Mancini already. In addition Bob doesn't seem to realise this despite rumoured visit to see Mansour.

the quotes the other day re spending a shit load more money speaks volumes of his managerial abilities to be fair

chequebook manager

Fergie could possible pay 60 odd million to get tranny back plus huge wages,
does that not make him a chequebook manager ???

If Bob goes,do you think any manager coming in would not want a big warchest ??
But ferguson is very shrewed on the market usually, and when he can't get his no 1 targets or is told that he can't sign a player...he gets the best out of his current crop of players.

A new manager will obviously want his own players, but we can't keep going out buying clubs best players and paying a fortune to do so.

Falcao's, cavani's and neymars would be brilliant, but how about having one of those with some young talent or shrewed buys? Michu for example.

We have to be very resourceful with our money now, and Mancini for me, isn't resourceful in the transfer market

I think they've finally twigged as to how pathetic that thread was making some of them look.

Rammy, I can see where you are coming from and I would also like it to be the case, but you can't read too much from either side of the argument.

Khaldoon speaking with Mancini came after a resounding win over Newcastle - there must surely have been better opportunities to tell him he was on his way out?

There is a lot of firefighting going on at the moment re Kompany, so maybe Mancini was told to sort it out and calm down his rhetoric.

Perhaps one of our posters in Abu Dhabi can tell us if our owner and Khaldoon were even in the country at the start of the week!

I'll give you my take, though. It was either to meet a summer transfer target/their agent, out there, just like we did with Yaya, Kaka and John Terry.

Or Mancini has been guaranteed by the big boss man himself, his word, that he will not be sacked.

I see no reason whatsoever for Mancini to have spoken later in the week the way he has.

He's talking about transfer funds which need to be spent, players they are already talking to.

I think it's Neymar's people. His third party are ready to sell their 40 per cent stake in the player.

If he's going to get the boot it's not going to be over a three or four day holiday in Abu Dhabi.

He'll get his notice and the club will spend their time on the next man rather than wasting it indulging an outgoing manager.

Personally think the trip doesn't give any indication one way or the other which way the people in charge are thinking.
