Fair enough, if that were the sole guarantee of success, but it isn't. How about potential, how about the proven ability to get a team punching way above its weight whilst playing good football, how about success without the assistance of gobs and gobs of cash, something that Mancini has been furnished with phenomenal amounts of at both City and Inter? Martinez only hung up his boots 5 years ago and has necessarily had to cut his managerial teeth at little clubs with no realistic prospect of winning anything, and he's made a superb job of it. Klopp similarly had to begin with lowly Mainz, before taking his first big job at Dortmund 4 years ago, where he has since won back to back Bundesliga titles, the German double, and now progressed to the quarter final of the Chimps League (and with Malaga to come, do you really think he won't make the semis - something Mancini has NEVER managed in 8 seasons of asking) from Pot 4 in only his second season in the competition. Sometimes a gamble is worth taking, and given Mancini's gradual exposure over the course of the last 15 months as a manager, who whilst espousing good football, has struggled repeatedly against both parked buses and high presses, who has a truly dismal record in Europe, and whose man management is questionable at best, that time has come for me.
I can respect the Klopp argument, but not half of the people on your list. However, Klopp's not coming.

You like evidence? Seems like a profound statement at face value. Alas, there can be no "evidence" can there, in respect of something that hasn't actually happened yet?! There's no evidence that the people on my list would have fared better than Mancini this season, but equally there's no evidence either that they wouldn't. We can all of us only speculate. Got any more bull dressed up as words of wisdom?
Evidence as in trophy records. Half the people you named have won significantly fewer trophies than Mancini. Mancini has won nine trophies including four titles in little over ten years in football management. That's a great record and I'd love to see some evidence that our next manager can win more trophies than Mancini can.

A honest question,do you want us to lose tomorrow and get dumped out of the f.a cup so you can say i told you so?

Martinez and Rodgers, am I supposed to be impressed by your list?

I don't give a flying fish whether you're impressed with it or not. You were droning on, not for the first time, about there being no-one better than Mancini available, and I simply named a handful of managers who would not, in my opinion, have fared any worse than Mancini this season, had they had Hart, Zab, Kompers, Clichy, Ya Ya, Nasri, Silva, Aguero and Tevez at their disposal. You may disagree, just as I disagree with your assertion that Klopp has won bugger all (apart from the league and cup double of course, oh and all on a shoestring, whilst having his best players taken off him each season) and is therefore not all that. Based on his team's total domination of us both home and away this year, I'd rate him as a significant upgrade on Mancini

I am not impressed either.

You actually think that Manchester City FC would be better served with Managers of the standard of Rodgers and Martinez ???

As for Gus Hiddink - a failure at Fenerbace, a failure at Real Betis, a failure at Valencia and "done" for Tax Fraud to boot - words really do fail me

As I posted earlier in the thread;

When Billy mentions Kloop I will listen
When Didsbury mentions Jose I will listen
When Prestwich mentions Ancellotti I will listen

Even then I will argue for Mancini in that he wasn't given the funds he needed in the Summer, United have been brilliant, The European Draw was cruel and especially the real Trump Cards - in a short space of time he has been very successful, he has "Winner" written all over him and this Club needs stability.

If we disregard the pettiness of the name calling that has gone on in this emotive thread and it went to a vote on a silliest post then you have got mine.

Oh dear, time to put your bins on and learn to read. I have not advocated taking Martinez on as a manager, merely stated that he is one of a number of people who might not have fared worse than Mancini this season, had he had such a talented squad as ours to manage. And if you reckon Hiddink's a crap manager, then heaven fucking help us all
