It's merely for the purpose of giving Chelsea a shove.

Beasley has written it as a favour because as it stands, Jose's preferred choices are not open to him at this stage.

That's what I don't get though mate.

Surely it's the easiest deal going to be done, if necessary and both parties want it. Chelsea have a lame duck in place and Jose is on the market having managed at Chelsea before.

If it was going to happen it would already be done and there'd be no need for a "shove".

Maybe Roman is finding it more difficult to swallow his pride than many people have suggested?

Jose could well end up there but it's clearly not a smooth deal.

The fact other clubs have been thrown into the mix is just so transparent, as is the source quote he could earn more money elsewhere.

Jose, trying to be all things to all people, as per usual.

I have a hunch, Abramovich may not be taken with the idea he could one day have Mourinho trying to walk out on him for Old Toilet.

Perhaps Chelsea are also keeping their powder dry until they know if they qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea havent got their CL spot just yet.. I think that quite important tbh.

As above.

Seemingly, this article eludes to wanting a deal done with Chelsea right now, so it's clearly not a pre-requisite for Jose.

But with £12m a year wages and wanting a significant transfer budget, perhaps the loss of Champions League revenue puts a different slant of things.

And hopefully, Falcao not also rocking up there!!

And there it is right there ^^^^^^^^^^

One of the conditions of his return is a top 4 spot, without that, no deal!

Oh and that tiny detail of a huge contract to be thrashed out

Beasley seems to make out that it's Chelsea pissing about and that Jose wants the job. Surely that implies, although obviously not gospel, that Chelsea are the ones that wouldn't want Jose if they didn't get top4 this season? I don't see the logic in that as if they miss top4 then surely having Jose gives them a better chance of still moving forward rather than stagnating.

Bob it is again then next year.

At least it will keep this thread alive ;-)

"Never go back". How does this apply to Mourinho at Chelsea?

I've heard a lot of people saying it wont work, but why? If the relationship broke down once with Abramovic surely the trust has gone. That's the only thing I can think of.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this. The media tell us that Abramovic has patched up his differences with Mourinho now. Is this true?

4th spot is genuinely in the balance for Chelsea. They are playing very well at the moment, but they have a key game with Spurs coming up, and with all their fixtures I can see them dropping points. Arsenal wont drop many now

Can't see it being that simple. I'd still love to know what the fook Bob was dragged over to AD for....

I put it in the Prem thread yesterday, if they don't get top 4 it's a whole new ball game, the cat will certainly be put amongst the pigeons.

You know my feelings on this one Tolmie. People who think it's a done deal for Mourinho going back to Chelsea are being a bit premature. In many respects it's more problematic for him to go back to Chelsea than it would be for him to pitch up here. Here he has to contend with a man who once didn't give him a job. At Chelsea he's got the people who sacked him, the player who betrayed him, the infrastructure which he considers fucked him over.

All this talk of "oh he's so far up the rags arse it's obvious he doesn't want to come here" is just one reading. The other is, he's making nice because he knows once he returns to England that will have to go out the window and hostilities will have to commence.
