Meanwhile, downstairs in the refugee thread......

Tolm then went on to say..."I have no clue if that information formed their opinion based on this supposed trip to Abu Dhabi, though".

Someone who knows more than you, or someone intimately connected with Khaldoun. Or are we talking Nicky Sumerbee levels of ITK.

My point is that at this point in the season it would be strange to have sacked Mancini already. In addition Bob doesn't seem to realise this despite rumoured visit to see Mansour.

the quotes the other day re spending a shit load more money speaks volumes of his managerial abilities to be fair

chequebook manager

Fergie could possible pay 60 odd million to get tranny back plus huge wages,
does that not make him a chequebook manager ???

If Bob goes,do you think any manager coming in would not want a big warchest ??
But ferguson is very shrewed on the market usually, and when he can't get his no 1 targets or is told that he can't sign a player...he gets the best out of his current crop of players.

A new manager will obviously want his own players, but we can't keep going out buying clubs best players and paying a fortune to do so.

Falcao's, cavani's and neymars would be brilliant, but how about having one of those with some young talent or shrewed buys? Michu for example.

We have to be very resourceful with our money now, and Mancini for me, isn't resourceful in the transfer market

I think they've finally twigged as to how pathetic that thread was making some of them look.

Personally, I'm going with Bob being told post-Newc by Khaldoon that his time at City is coming to an end. Informs him that Sheikh Mansour would like to see him face-to-face to personally thank him for the last 3 years and all he's done for the club, as chances are he won't see him face-to-face again.

That's what you hope any way.

I cant see an owner saying that to a manager that could win him another FA cup in a few weeks time... Funny how the mind works eh ??

Don't really see that it would make much difference. Bob and the players will want the cup, Bob would be getting a decent payoff. It's no big deal.

Thing is mate, one thing is for sure. There was a big reason for Bob to shoot over to AD seeing as he'd just had a long meeting with Khaldoon post Newcastle game.

I know I'm only guessing and Tolm may be right about a transfer target. I just think it's more likely managerial related.

Rammy, I can see where you are coming from and I would also like it to be the case, but you can't read too much from either side of the argument.

Khaldoon speaking with Mancini came after a resounding win over Newcastle - there must surely have been better opportunities to tell him he was on his way out?

There is a lot of firefighting going on at the moment re Kompany, so maybe Mancini was told to sort it out and calm down his rhetoric.

Perhaps one of our posters in Abu Dhabi can tell us if our owner and Khaldoon were even in the country at the start of the week!

I'll give you my take, though. It was either to meet a summer transfer target/their agent, out there, just like we did with Yaya, Kaka and John Terry.

Or Mancini has been guaranteed by the big boss man himself, his word, that he will not be sacked.

I see no reason whatsoever for Mancini to have spoken later in the week the way he has.

He's talking about transfer funds which need to be spent, players they are already talking to.

I think it's Neymar's people. His third party are ready to sell their 40 per cent stake in the player.

If he's going to get the boot it's not going to be over a three or four day holiday in Abu Dhabi.

He'll get his notice and the club will spend their time on the next man rather than wasting it indulging an outgoing manager.

Personally think the trip doesn't give any indication one way or the other which way the people in charge are thinking.
