Mancini

I think the money Mancini has spent has been overstated a bit.

Quite a lot by historical terms but the last two years has been a nett spend of just over £62m. Considering that's seen the arrival of Aguero, Clichy, Nastasic, Nasri that isn't a bad results.

Year before he spent a lot to get in Yaya, Silva, Balo, Dzeko, Milner etc.

All up he's spent a nett £185m in three and a half years (seven transfer windows). Considering the improvement in our squad I reckon he's done well in that area (with a few obvious mistakes like every manager).

Depends on who (if anyone) we bring in. That's besides the point. Mancini already has a very expensive squad, he then wanted another x amount to improve it. And despite spending £50mil in the summer, still complained.

its not beside the point its what you put in quotes
are you naive enough to think the next manager will only work with these players already here,

Top teams evey year improve their squads with better players thats why they remain at the top

I agree entirely. Top teams improve their squad every year. Mancini spent £50mil, and still complained. Why spend the money then if it's not improving?

Quite a few seem to be overly keen to deflect any praise for Mancini onto the owner.

Don't see the same happening with say Aguero for example who wouldn't be at the club if not for Sheikh Mansour.

That doesn't mean that they don't recognise what Bobby has done well etc. However, the biggest component in our sucess is the money spent as it is in Chelsea's; as it is in United's enduring Premier League success. Manager's play their part but the correaltion between wage bills and success is undeniable.

Can you name someone who won't thank Bobby when he leaves?

Bacon Face?

LOL

I am thankful; he ended years of shit. But, in my opinion, it's time for a change.

Why? Haven't we done the changing managers often thing? We ended up in League 1.

Think that's how it goes:)

No. Just think sometimes we need to apply a bit of perspective.

I don't want a change for changes sake. I honestly believe Mancini has taken us as far as he can. I wanted him to succeed even more with us, I just don't think that he should be given another bucket load of money to get "the players he wants"

And no disrespect mate. But if I see the word "perspective" one more time I'm going to fucking scream. We are not the team of 10 years ago. You may not have noticed, but things have changed around here.
Without fail, the posters who say 'we need to get some perspective' are the ones who have no perspective, no grasp, no understanding on how much money has been spent, how good our squad is and what our goals are. It's the reason why these Likkle Cityers are at constant loggerheads with every football journalist, pundit, commentator and broadcaster. Because these neutrals often have a much better grasp on what the sheikh should expect for his investment than some wide eyed, city shirt wearing bloke in the east stand with his mrs who has no real understanding of the game.

'Get some perspective' is the mark of a Likkle Cityer who still sees our rightful place as second fiddle to united. Same divs saying 'finishing second represents a good season'. Clueless. Go and look at that car crash of a thread entitled 'Football Focus' to see it in its full, awful, technicolor gory detail.

players left, wanted to leave, they were replaced but not the quality the manager wanted

£14m net spending this season. Less half than the rags', and that £14m went on replacing De Jong with Garcia.

Net/gross. We still gave other teams a total of £50mil (ish) for their players. And he still complained.

-- Sat Apr 06, 2013 9:48 pm --

Then he should have saved the money for this summer.

Were you happy with the transfer business in the summer?

Mancini is just one part of our transfer dealings.

Yes. If he doesn't like the players, why buy them? I'm not saying he doesn't like them, just that he complained about not getting the players he wanted.

Yeah, I am in the main. Despite Mancini not having any dealings with any of them (or so I'm led to believe on here, as it's all Marwood's fault)

Rodwell, excellent in my opinion (though hope his injuries clear up)
Nastasic - near-perfect 1st seaon
Garcia - I'm one of the few who actually rates him
Maicon - I can see why he bought him, with Richards and Zabs injured at the start. But fuck me it's not turned out well
Sinclair - I wish he stayed at Swansea. Not slagging him off, tbh I think Mancini has treated him like shit

Strange thing is, Ric knows most of the outers. Weird eh.
